Neat, but the newest article is 4 years old?

I've seen a lot of water-meth injection setups, of varying quality, on heavily modified Subarus. There are some definite downsides but with an OEM level of research and integration you can probably get around most of them.

Protip: If you spend some money on a water-meth setup that you installed in your trailer park forecourt, take the time to hook up the failsafe.

yeah 4-5 year old story. Sounds like a neat idea though. Remember back when Buick had a separate tank for "rocket fuel" (methanol if I remember right).

the only Buicks that i can think of that had factory installed meth injection were some factory GN prototypes that never made it out to the general public.. they might have been tested by some federal agencies for use as pursuit vehicles- which is where the legend of the "twin turbo FBI" Grand Nationals came from...

Rocket Fluid was Oldsmobile, for the 215 turbo F-85.

That's not what this is- it's E85 on one injection path, and gas on the other. Both intended as fuel.

It's a cool idea, but it also shows that Americans hate diesel engines. If more people would buy and had been buying diesel trucks, Ford would definitely charge less money for each one until the price difference was $500-$1000. It also doesn't address the fact that people need to start buying more hybrids and electric cars and trucks.

Well, I believe I echo the sentiments of the population you are addressing by the statement "If it isn't broke, don't try to fix it"

Also, I believe that GM single handedly set back diesel powered cars in the country by decades....that and the way our fuel stations are set up, its a PITA to have a diesel vehicle(at least in my area, you are shunned to a non covered, non lighted section of the parking lot)

Hybrids aren't an answer either, they're a compromise of epic proportions and electric cars are still waiting on nuclear fusion to make them acceptable to the masses.

I hear ya on this point. Some stations have diesel in the same pump as gasoline but others sell diesel only to the big rigs and if you want to fill up there you have to go around the back of the station and then when you try to put the nozzle into your tank it won't fit. (I have a VW diesel.)
