So, so many ideas for that motor. Locost build, or desert pre-runner are the first two that come to mind....

Is it wrong I'm thinking about that motor to replace the 302 in my tow Explorer? It only makes something like 211 HP and 300ftlbs when new...

If I was building Midlana today, this engine would be at or near the top of the list for drivetrains.

That said, what's unclear is whether the ECU can be tuned beyond what it is. Say the owner wants to run on E85, or changes the exhaust, or the intake, is tuning easy or impossible?

I actually asked about that some time ago- and the answer was no.

So me, this would make a really nice research engine for schools. IF they were able to change the calibration.

A modern retro SVO inspired Fox body? hmmmm

I was looking at one of those for a Miata swap.

The biggest challenge may not be the transmission. The NC gearbox reportedly bolts to it. It looks like the direct injection hardware could be a PITA. I have not done measurements but, it looks like the high pressure injector pump is mounted on the cylinder head and sticks out past the flywheel. To make it fit you would either have to cut pocket into the firewall for it or mount the engine further forward in the car than the stock motor.

That would be a great restomod. I'm sure there are a few SVOs out there that would be good candidates for this.

Harness includes OBD-II diagnostic port to assist in vehicle calibration upload and problem diagnosis.

Seems to imply it can be tuned. It mentions "ford racing" software or something a few lines below that.

I'd love to drop one of these into a 1973 Capri with some RS2600 style fender flares. Even better if the solid rear axle could be dumped for something like a Miata rear subframe. Stop giving me these crazy ideas, please.

In reply to kanaric: Ask about changing the calibration.

If you get a positive answer, I need to have one sent to a university.

Oh that has Falcon or Cortina resto-mod written all over it. Maybe an AC Bristol kit car. Or a SPITFIRE!!!! Maybe install it in a Fiesta ST......or maybe a 65 Mustang coupe.

or an E30!!!! Maybe a Gremlin! Yeah Waynes world roasting the tires.

A boxster swap would be cool too! Since the Boxster transaxle can't handle the torq from a V8, maybe this should work well.

Yeah that is a great exocet/midlandia/Locost motor

EcoBoost ALL THE THINGS!!!!

See the power curve for PN M-6017-20T Am I reading this right? 270lb-ft + 90 = 362lb-ft!!! Stupid ideas are abounding, thats not a bad price for a crate.

Now that's a spicy mid-range.

It would be hilarious if FoMoCo made a kit for this, and began advertising it on rotary enthusiasts web forums.

The modern turbo engines are easily tunable with software. A $200 tune added to a GM LNF Ecotec gets your from 260 bhp/260 Tq to 320 bhp/340 Tq. And that is only the start!

Hmm this looks like another OEM special powertrain parts "available to the public" for $6k but in reality they somehow only get sold to targeted racing teams. Then fade from the catalog.

But they do have the $8k product in stock and ready to ship!

Hope that isn't how it goes.

Man, I didn't realize they were selling it with the control pack.

The usual Fox-body fantasies flitted through my mind, for sure. I think it'd be fun to slap this in a 60s or 70s Ford and have more power than the stock V8 with enough room in the engine bay to sleep in.
