Turn 4 scares me every single lap there....
I believe it was Martin brundle that said something like "give him a ride toto".
George qualifies 2nd. Bottas qualifies 13th....
Not sure of the when and where(article, quote, format) but it seems GR has stated he's not the least bit interested in playing second fiddle to LH......major stones I must say.....hmm
That sounds like manufactured clickdrama. Toto has said he won't tolerate another Rosberg situation. George is smart enough to know that he can compete on pace without resorting to mind games. Mercedes has shown that they don't really have #1 and #2 drivers until the drivers themselves have clearly separated.
Toto has said they've made up their mind for next year, they're just not telling yet. Maybe after this weekend, but today's quali isn't a factor. I suspect they're having a certain amount of fun watching everyone twist themselves up trying to guess. If it's a straight George/Valterri swap, nobody outside Williams or Mercedes needs to know.
In reply to 759NRNG : I have been listening to the Beyond The Grid interviews and listening to the team politics all the flexing that goes on and winning over the team. Russell is a good Saturday guy but very rarely gets the same performance on Sunday. Jumping into a Hamilton centric team is no easy task Hamilton still is in his prime. I hope Russell does well tomorrow, obviously blocking or running into Hamilton would probably have Toto pounding the table and taking a walk to Williams.
Does George fail to perform on Sunday, or does he put the car much further up the grid than it should be on Saturday?
He knows he's not in for the win tomorrow, he'd be smart to stay well clear of Hamilton. Now, if Lewis and Max tangle, he'll be there to take advantage for as long as the Williams can manage. Fingers crossed for Spa weather :)
I would like to see GR respond in a somewhat conservative calculated manner, whereby being ready to pounce at a moments notice with minimal drama....

That was intentional, this way he'll have more time to build speed for taking out Lewis' competition turn one.
Jokes aside, I'm going to lose my mind if Hamilton lucks out *again* with collisions for his competition or slap-on-the-wrist penalties.

Well I wish I had lucky penalties to help me win races...maybe the SCCa doesn't have lucky penalties. Sounds like Mario party terminology or something.
There will more than likely be some lost wings if there is rain. But I think the top 6 starters just want to get to malmedy in one piece, the trouble starts from 7th down. Somone has a bad start the cars get out of sorts or someone may make a lunge or just clip wheels. Either way, everyone has built good references on where to brake on a wet spa track. Hopefully they get slowed down and mind the gap.
Then at the end of Kamel straight there will be an eight car pile up.
This is either going to be spectacularly good or stupid. This is one of the worst weather starts I have seen.
On a side not watching the fans in the rain looking like they are still having a great time has cemented this as a bucket list event for me.
Christian Horner just answered my question about tomorrow. "It's a bank holiday so what else are we going to do?"
I'm hoping it doesn't just keep bucketing, or the visibility problem will mean there's a huge advantage for the leader and with a rolling start, that leader will be Max. It would basically make this a gimmie and just a procession.
I hear this is Max's home race. And next weekend is Max's home race. And there have been two home races for Red Bull. That kid needs to get on the road and race somewhere else :)
Two more laps behind safety car, award half points, Russell gets a podium? Also had been in and out since rain and completely missed the Perez incident till now.
Two laps and half points would be a lot less satifying than simply cancelling it. I'd love to see Russell on a podium but quali should not be half the points of a race.
