Actually Lewis did ask if Max was ok at Silverstone. Of course he was still driving so he asked Bono and was told that he was ok and moving in the car. 

I understand he is mad and I don't see him not going to the car as a big deal, it probably would have escalated an already heated moment but it's not fair to think that he was worried for his safety to check on him, he walked behind the Lewis's car on the walk back to the garage. 

I am good with leaving this where it is and joining 84FSP et. al. in celebrating for Danny and Lando! Lando and Zak did seem to understand the grossness of drinking from Danny's shoe, it was awesome to see the thrill of unexpected victory.

anyway, this is all kind of silly. Crashes will happen in racing, and especially in F1 while the cars are designed in a way that limits passing, while the cars are insanely wide, and while they are open wheel and crash with relatively small contact.

Max's car wasn't under Lewis', so I think it's a little different.  Coming home from dinner a few months back, came off the exit ramp, turned onto the cross road, and as soon as I got under the interstate I saw a wreck that had just happened.  Dust was still in the air, just the two cars there in bad positions.  I pulled over and went to check on them.  One guy was pulling out his phone to make a call, went to check on the other guy.  His car was totalled, a huge mess, blood running down his face, and he's trying to drive the car.  Had no idea what the crap he was doing, I'm telling him he needs to turn the car off, he's telling me to just give him a minute as he's revving the car up trying to pull over.  I finally reached through the shattered windshield and turned the car off.  Just because a car is doing something doesn't mean the driver is ok.  After a hit like that, check on the other guy.  Unless you're a Maxhole.

I would think he saw max jump out of his car, put the steering wheel back on, and stomp away like a little kid.  Seems pretty safe he knew.  

The point is that Max and Red BullE36 M3 expects everyone else to pander to them- give Max room, make sure Max is ok, aggressive and not desperate.  Something Max and Red BullE36 M3 don't do to anyone else.

If anything, all this has done is cemented my dislike of the entire Red BullE36 M3 empire.  I was a fan of Perez until he changed teams, now I keep wishing he has problems- to spite Horner.  Especially how he treated Gasley and Albon for that seat.

I don't bother distinguishing between Grand Prix and Formula 1 because it's really only just marketing. And yes, you have to go back to get a closed body GP car. But you CAN go back. 

I understand it's part of the brand and not a simple change. But we survived the change to hybrid drivetrains even though it meant the cars sounded different and everyone - led by Ecclestone - thought it was the end of the series. A closed wheel F1 car could look otherworldly and that might actually attract more attention. Defining your sport as "the way we've always done it" doesn't get you new fans. Plus there's the whole better passing and closer following and less catastrophic damage from a small bump thing.

Monza is boring unless you have a new powerplant in the Merc car. Hopefully next years car can fix it. I like Checo, but I think they should have made a offer to Bottas. Bottas had a great weekend, I never thought he we podium yesterday. I thought Max vs. Lewis was a racing incident and having a 3 place penalty to Max gives the victory to Lewis at a Merc favorite track Sochi. Peter Windsor is comparing this battle to Senna vs. Prost, Lewis is defiantly Prost with Wolf fighting the political battles for him.  I don't know if Max is Senna, he is good, but is he that good? he is still young. So the 88 season Senna won and the 89 season Prost won. 88 season Senna had DSQ and 1 retirement and Prost had 2 retirements. 89 season Prost 3 retirements and Senna had 6 RET and DSQ. Max has 2 RET and Hamilton has 1 RET. 8 possible races left, I think there is defiantly going to be atleast 1 DSQ for max. 

While I am a Hamilton fan, it was great to see Ricciardo win as he bring so much enthusiasm to the the podium.

Not at all, that would be very dangerous, . As someone else pointed out. Vettel was able to pause and get a thumbs up from Lando, something he probably wouldn't have done if he saw the intact car just stuck in the gravel. If  both Max and Lewis simply ended up in the gravel side by side, not a concern. But knowing you went on top of the other car, just a pause to make sure the other driver wasn't injured from a distance would be fine. Max was clear that he didn't give much thought to safety as he walked back onto the track to get back to his pit rather than going towards the tire wall first. Watching live I tensed up wondering if the corner worker was going to follow Max on track and if Mazepin and Schumacher would come careening through the chicane. At the same time I didn't think Lewis did the right thing trying to wiggle out from under Max's car. 

I wish it wouldn't be this way but former F1 driver Damon Hill says from his experience watching young drivers, for guys like Max they just don't seem to learn until they get into a few heavy shunts and feel the pain slow them down for a few races; then they seem care for the other drivers and there own safety. 

Almost forgot that Danny Ric won his bet with Zak.

Lol they've been partial tube frame since the mid 60s and purely a silhouette since the 70s.

Bodies were "stock" (had to be made from factory panels) but the frames were modified.  These were the downsized "2nd generation" cars where the wheelbase was shortened to 110 inches. https://www.nascar.com/gallery/the-evolution-of-nascar-sprint-cup-cars/#photo-8

Not exactly tube-frame specials.  IIRC those were the Trans-Am cars of that era.

Hard to say from this. IIRC these cars have custom chasis and they used "bodies in white" from the manufacturers. I think in the early part of Gen 3 they used the stock floor panels but I wouldn't swear to that. These were my favorite cars of NASCAR, if there was a series that raced these I would watch. Tony Stewarts SRX cars raced similar to these IMO.

I couldn't find a better picture but this is a 1994 Thunderbird driven by Jeff Burton. The floor looks like a stock floor, not fabricated.

 I love race cars and how they build them, sorry I know this is the F1 thread so this is just research to understand how the Honey Badger is going to be seeing things!

I'm also a big hammy fan, still remember screaming at the TV when he beached it at the Chinese GP on pit lane!

But Danny Ric is great. Great sense of humor, seems like the kind of guy you'd want to sit down and have a beer or ten with.

There was a point, and I really don't remember exactly when, that they stopped using the floor pan from a 1965 Galaxy 500.  Or something.  I'd be guessing that pictured car would be very close to the end of that.

From a construction standpoint, until they started worrying about underbody airflow, having a pre formed floor pan probably saved a bucket of labour in building the car.
