WAY TO GO LANDO!!! GREAT DRIVE!!!!!!!
So we've had another race where someone other than Verstappen winning.
Naturally Verstappen is crushing the championship but nice to see an unexpected result.
Lando had the safety car fall in his lap, but he was absolutely the fastest car today.
An absolutely legit win, no asterisk required.
Max looked happier in his post race than after any of his wins in the last couple of years. He seemed genuine, which is extremely rare for him.
Before this weekend I had been thinking that Miami is kinda underrated. There was a lot of action this weekend.
Also good to see how many drivers congratulated Lando on his in-lap and afterwards.
It looked like after the restart Lando was about .2 quicker per lap than Verstappen so that McLaren definitely had pace!
Need to see more races, but I've now come up with a theory of the RBR- it's more set up to not be passed. Sometimes it's clearly the fastest car out there, and very much is off the line for 3 laps. Then it's fast enough to keep the car behind it. So it being so very hard to pass, even if you are slightly faster, you can't pass it, as the normal passing areas make it impossible to work with the DRS.
We will see if there's more evidence of that theory in the upcoming races. But it is clearly one of the best of the best ways to win races.
I am hearing rumors (seemingly reliable ones) that Logan is going to be out at Williams and either Devries or Kimi Antonelli will be in that car. More likely Nyck because Kimi would need a super license waiver.
In reply to Ian F (Forum Supporter) :
Riccardo won Monza in 2021 for McLaren...but before that it was 2012.
Also, there hasn't been any talk about Verstappens mistake. I haven't seen the onboard, but I don't think he had anyone near him when he cut the chicane. IMO, A bit of a oddity as it's been rare as of late for him to make a mistake.

I'm not hearing any rumors, but my eyeballs tell me he should not be in that car.

Williams applied for a waiver for kimi last week. No idea on how long that process takes.

It sure seemed that way. I loved seeing Fred Vasseur join the post race celebration!

Plus, strategy that wasn't blindly pulled out of a sack of options...
Ok, Me, maybe you forgot about the Mclaren and their mid- season upgrade last year that took them from DFL to a serious mid pack contender , which has now been advanced to winning chassis.
It was interesting that Lando simply drove away from Max, with no DRS assist......much like Max does and Sainz did when they were out in front. So is it the clean air? Something else?
I read today that Lando's win was down to Maylander making a mistake and picking up the wrong driver, that he should have picked Max up not Lando. That doesn't square with what I was seeing, but then I'm not in timing/scoring......

To me, it seems that the RBR is kind of sensitive in aero wash. They have passed easily in the past, but for some reason this time they could not. At least on slighly worn tires. Dunno.
Who claimed that the SC should have picked up Max? Lando was in the lead. It actually did pick up Max, with Lando out in front of them. So the whole field had to pass the SC- then waited until Lando and the field caught up. Maybe the SC should have picked up Lando as he exited the pits. McLaren really manipulated the "VSC" before the SC time to build a massive gap for them to pit.
