Great, maybe there's hope except he still doesn't think ruining the 2nd place cars race was worthy of a penalty.
Reverse the situation and he's screaming bloody murder along with the RB pit wall.
Coulda been a pretty E36 M3ty way to lose the constructors title if Lando had suffered an issue.
There was a interesting stat that Gasley had $0 in crash damage in 2024, the only driver to do so. He handily beat Ocon in a bad car. While he probably won't be seen as a great driver, for winning and championships, he did a great job. It will be interesting what happens to Jack, Britoarie wants Colapinto who looks to be available next season, I wonder if a midseason change would happen if he isn't up to form.
I think it's sad that Sainz was cast aside for Hamilton and will had to spend time in a Williams. The stats don't lie about Hamilton that he is a great racer, but his qualifying ability in recent years has been terrible for him. He is going to a Ferrari team that is terrible in race strategy, Alonso and Vettel both failed to bring a trophy. Bottas is not there to help him.
I hope that next year will be as entertaining as the second half of the 2024 season, honestly who ever is alongside Max I don't think will contribute to it. I think RB has shown they can only support 1 driver at a time, Albon, Sainz, Gasley have shown the belong, but were cast aside by RB. I think Mercedes will be widely inconsistent but will be battling with Ferrari and Aston Martin will battle in the beginning and sink like a stone.

But we are being told that 4 titles means that he can ignore all of that. And that reminding him of that is blatantly biased.
Gasley took an overweight slug of a car, helped develop it through the season, finished P10 in drivers points and p6 in constructors, and didn't cause a nickels worth of damage.
One could argue he was driver of the year...maybe Williams should have hired him.

I think Williams proved they had a undrivable car and the damage was a result of that, It's not Franks team just a bunch of shareholders trying to cash in on F1. All 3 drivers crashed more then anyone else.
2 things:
1- I am not convinced that Williams proved they had an undriveable car. Albon got to look like a stud racing for 15 races against Logan, who does not seem to be up to par for an F1 driver. Was Albon great? I don't know, maybe. Or maybe he is average (or worse) and was looking great by comparison? So we know Sargeant was not good, he wrecked a ton of stuff. Albon may be good, may be slightly better than not great and he wrecked a lot of stuff. Then they brought in a fast rookie who is trying to prove himself and he hangs it out at 10 10ths and wrecks a bunch of stuff. Maybe the car isn't driveable, maybe they had a few drivers that were not at the peak of their game yet?
2- Interesting story on F1.com today. I am still not convinced that differential braking wasn't a player in this but here is the official story, it is pretty insightful. https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article/tech-weekly-the-key-2024-performance-differentiator-that-saw-mclaren-usurp.1Q8Gp6yIJJU3yiSOo5BhSk
According to f1planet, Colopinto had a higher crash damage bill than Sargent. Which I thought was surprising.
Besides the nostalgia of driving For Ferrari what's actually in it for Hamilton? Money? He has a 3 lifetimes of money. Maybe he wants more clothing designers to use red? I guess just the title of Ferrari Driver?
Now, Cadillac F1. Are there any F1 drivers who can actually positively help develop a car? Maybe two drivers. Or has driver feed back been replaced with what a computer simulation says is a fast car?
On the other hand who wants to risk becoming a has been because the car is undrivable or unreliable ? Could be a career killer for a young driver. On the other hand a driver more seasoned but hasn't been much more than a mid to back pack driver might just be phoning it in and be useless with feed back.
With the current F1 car packages I find it amazing that P1-P20 on the grid can be 2 seconds. 2 seconds best car ever to piece of crap.

I think it is the title of Ferrari Driver for Lewis. It's also possible that there's been a lot of real frustration with Mercedes' inability to fix their car over the past three years but we'll never hear that story unless he publishes a memoir in 25 years. Then again, we couldn't explain the move to Mercedes back in the day either.
Computer simulation has replaced a lot of driver feedback due to the lack of actual testing allowed. At least a new team will unlock a couple of seats for older/new drivers. Maybe Alonso would want to take a shot at it, for example.
Alonso was my first thought,he is the only active driver that bridges the old driver feedback with computer simulation.
In reply to NY Nick :
Sainz in the Williams during testing would have qualified 11th with 1m23.635, with a faster 2025 tire if the tires are worth .2 seconds (rumored to be, not facts), with a 2024 tire he would have been 17th right behind Alex. We don't know what Sainz was accomplishing and what fuel runs he was doing, but I don't see a better or more driveable car. Maybe with the sponsorship and talent Carlos is bringing, they should be better, but the management and strategy is not better then HAAS, I don't see more then a mid-pack team.

I really think Williams was hamstrung by two big problems this season that may be not next.
First the systems approach that Vowles worked hard to get fixed early in the season- the lack of efficiency makes it more expensive to keep up during the season, let alone make the grid at the beginning. Then add the cost of all of the crashes they had. Some of those may also be the result of the system making it hard to fix an inconsistency with the car, too.
Anyway- I really am optimistic for next season for Williams. And we may find out that James Vowles was the real key to Mercedes.
