What if i told you that you could rev an F2T to over 7000rpms for $20 and a trip to the junkyard?

Redline is 6200 anyways. With a probe GL final drive, that's plenty of powerband. Not ideal for autox, but you wouldn't be putting that turbo on an autox car anyways. Would be fine for track work, though.

My main point is that dollar for dollar, the F2T will have a broader useable powerband than an FE3 any day, and make more torque doing it.

Once both motors are "built," though, all bets are off. The FE3 is a clear winner.

LOL! Awesome.

Mazda trucks with the FE motor had dual valve springs with almost double the seat pressure of the F2T springs. They drop in with mild modifications to the seats, that you can do with a dremel. You can rev a stock F2T to 7000rpms, but you'll be floating valves after 3800rpms, and your torque will drop off severly.

There's also a company out of Australia now selling aftermarket valve springs for the F2T for less than $80.

Springs, Delta Stage 3 regrind ($140), and shimmed HLAs = big FAT powerband.

I have some other things i'm working on that will help out as well, and now that there's another F2T guy on here, i'll be documenting here as well as on mx6.com.

I'm chasing 350whp on a challenge budget. You aren't going to do that on an FE3.

YAY!!!!

Hint for Dan: The intake manifold runners are too long, and the dual-stage throttle body butterflies well.... kindof suck. IMO, at least.

Details on the red 1g MX6 behind it?

That MX3 is weird man.... the 5 lug swap is interesting. Put the VAF back where it should be and the car should probably run better than it is now. (Even if it's not running badly)

It's so..... dirty. Clean that thing!

Nice pickup though man. That's a VERY interesting car.

[EDIT] Just noticed where the coolant overflow tank was. WTF?

I cleaned the outside of it today and started to get rid of a BUNCH of un needed wiring. Remote start and security system, really not needed where I live... Vacuumed it out and cleaned the hell out of the inside. When I went to pick it up the pass side rear wheel was stuck from sitting, so today I got it unfroze and filled the Transmission with fresh fluid. Next Project will be on the Ball Joints... From what the guy who did the swap told me the Mx3 has a larger top of the Ball Joint than a MX6 so there is ~1/16th on an inch play in it. I may have for to mention that the car also has MX6 suspension as well as rear disc brake swap, a Corksport hybrid Garett GT25 Ball Bearing Turbo (RX-7 Turbo 2 Compressor housing, and T3 Wheel) Thought you all may like to see it ;)

Looking better!

Gotta do something about that engine bay, though... there's so many bad things going on in there (no offense meant!) and it really needs some attention.

Let me know when you want to make power... i've got some stuff sitting around.

I'm a little surprised the MX6 suspension fit, to be honest. Or are you just saying it's got the arms and such? Interior looks very nice!

Now you've gotta track down the factory chin spoiler for the MX3. I have one, but Nick may be wanting it.

PS: I still want to know about that MX6 that was parked behind it in the earlier pictures.

That mx6 is an '89 GT, it has a custom made bodykit that's really all I know about it. As for the mx3, I agree there's quite a bit of sorting to do buts got one hell of a start! The guy who built it is gonna make a build sheet as to what is mx3 vs what is mx6. What kinda stuff u got???

I know i've at least got a Zombie 440 chipped ECU and a set of 440cc injectors.

Question though.... is it running 88-89 electronics, or 90-92 electronics?

We're all living vicariously through you, sorry for the added pressure, so detail the engine bay, get it sorted, and post video of driving it already!

i just need to ask where did the g series get a bad rep from.... its been a few years but the escort guys i used to associate with never had problems including myself. well aside from the syncro on 2 going bad about every 15k but replace that no probs... only thing bad i did was having a non welded msp diff and the ring gear issues.

The G-series has a bad rep because they can't handle power. 250whp seems to be their "safe" limit.

They're just fine at stock power limits.

ok well that explains it. i never surpassed that on one. infact i only know one guy who did with like 350 whp out of an spi motor in like a 98 escort.

Yep, under boost, they like to strip 3rd gear smooth.

Mazda had to re-design that trans and make it stronger with the H-series to attach to the F2T, because a stock F2T will destroy a G-series in short order like it's nothing.

ok that works for me. does that mean i should start making plans for something other than the g-serious for a turbo kl in a escort wagon.

You've got three options:

1) Stockpile G-series @ $50 a pop and get good at swapping them.
2) Build a G-series (LULZ)
3) Swap to Toyota E153 trans.

If you don't drive like an idiot, 300whp should be ok. I wouldn't try slicks. Remember, if you're spinning, you aren't breaking.

All depends on the power level you're wanting. Obviously, a KL will make 300whp on a basic ebay kit and do it WELL. If you're going beyond that, better start weighing options.

okay so i have a ?.... the mx3 balljoint ends are .033mm or just a shade under 1/32nd of an inch smaller than the mx6 spindle. What would be the recommended solution for this? have a machine shop turn a steel sleeve. The PO who put it together informed me that they were not correct and thats really the biggest thing that will keep me from getting it on the road as he was afraid they would come out while in motion. Gonna relocate the MSD stuff to the firewall and get an exhaust/muffler on it next week. I'd like to get it on the road n the next 2 weeks to a month.

See if 3rd gen Escort ZX2 stuff works. They're a bit bigger to the best of my knowledge.
