Im installing QA1 CC plates, and from what I see....they don't use any rubber strut bushings? I looked at some of the other kits and that seems to be the case. Just want to be sure before I waste more valuable drinking time attempting to fit all those bushing on there...which does not seem possible. from what I gather you put a bump stop n the shaft if the strut does not have a built in one, then a spacer, then the bottom plate, and attach to the strut tower plate. so im only really reusing the strut, boot, and retaining nut.... does this sound right?
That's the way they go together. A bumpstop of some kind but that's it. You shouldn't feel to much of an increase in noise but the quality of the spherical bearing used will determine if you hear a "click" as you hit a bump. The click is the play in the bearing if any. They all will wear out at some point so it helps if the bearing is replaceable by removing a snap ring. If it's welded in then I wouldn't use it but send it back.
Ok thanks jimbbski! It jut seems so odd not use the rubber ones, but once I read about the reasoning it makes sense now. Ha, I was racking my brain out in the garage trying to figure out how in the hell I was going to make all those damn bushings and what have you fit on the shaft. Now that my headache is over, I can enjoy a brew and the rest of the day.
