that looks VERY hot.. I might have to go looking for one to do a wingectomy on

Fixed.

Dear Santa, Please send this to me. I promise to be mostly good enough.
You bestest buddy, Rick
I wonder if i'm the only person that things all the hopped up RWD/AWD cars Toyota has made look better with the big TRD wings...

Ugh... couldn't see this pic before. I barf'd. That just looks.... awkward.
Also, I thought the MR2 needed as much grip in the rear as possible. I don't know why people think wings are so hideous. Is it residual hatred/disgust from the FatF era?
Celica, I'm with you on this. The 3000GT wing looks pretty sweet. The wing for the FR-S though...looks a little bulbous. Like it's too narrow for it's height.
Now imagine if that SW20 without the wing also had the decklid painted a flat or semi-gloss black... Could make the little thing actually kind of evil.

Put me in the "SW20 sans rear wing is not okay" camp. I haven't met anyone who was alive when those cars were sold new that likes the look.

Yes.
Me, too. I was deep into cars then, and I love the wingless look.
Mean time, this angle is SO right on this car. The way the quarter panel hip line flows into the lip spoiler makes me feel funny in the swimsuit area.
That is pretty hot.
This weekend saw at least two of these in the paddock at the Summit Point Lemons race. Given that they just started shipping THIS MONTH, I think they're going to be a huge hit with enthusiasts. I spoke with one of the owners and he was exactly like me prior to buying the car - never wanted nor needed a new car. Then the FR-S came along and he was convinced. I'm going to have to test drive one.

That is berkeleying hot. The prehistoric shark mouth front is berkeleying hideous though. Seriously. If I see one of these cars all "Primered bumper ziptied and double sided taped," I'm berkeleying stealing it.
sobe_death wrote: I saw this one IRL at the Nurburgring race, and it was much less offensive.
My goodness that looks beautiful.
Also, I prefer the wingless MR2, it looks different. I just really don't like the big wings Toyota used in the 90s and 2000s. They look cheap or something.

Just give it time man, just give it time.

I don't like fake kitsch on cars. Most wings on road cars are aerodynamically fake (i.e, useless at best and more likely detrimental), as can readily be seen by the wing supports if nothing else. There are exceptions, but since the fake outnumber the real by 1,000:1, I assume they are all fake unless I have a chance and a reason to examine them and find otherwise.
The same goes for carbon fibre. If the car cost less than $100k US new, any carbon fiber is 99% likely to be fake, or else to be functionally fake (i.e., real carbon fiber, but used as non-functional veneer). I hate that stuff too.

That is definitely not true anymore. The cf roof, fenders, hood, etc on the Corvette ZR1 and Z06 are real. Same with the BMW roof on the M3 CSL (and some Merc's AMG's as well IIRC). Every model year brings more real carbon fiber into the cars, and at lower price points. Which is awesome!
It's also worth pointing out that it was recently in the news that GM (I think) is going to be throwing some heavy resources into getting the cost of CF down so that they can get it into cars across their whole model line.
