I can pick up a 1999 Saturn SL2 for almost free.
What to do with it?
207,XXX miles on it needs a clutch. (slipping..almost toast) A/C no worky
Needs minor stuff.
So, should i bite or?

What motor? If it's the 1.9 DOHC get it, fix the clutch with a strong clutch, and boost the hell out of it.
Search youtube for "turbo saturn" you'll see why.

he has a miata and a P71. The best I can tell he has Car ADD and is constantly looking for another car.
CarKid1989 wrote: Seems like getting it will be happening. But to sell or keep is the question
seems like if it has 4 wheels, you will own it, so try it out. If you like it, drive it till it dies and fix it again. If you do not, Drive it like you hate it and when it brakes, sell it for scrap.
I'm just sayin
Hey its got the best pricetag=FREE. The mileage is a little high but oh well. The twin cam's are pretty fun to drive, get decent mileage and you can tweak the suspension a little bit. Sounds like a winner to me..
I currently share an SL2 with my girlfriend...its a pretty stout little car. we beat on it pretty well, and it just takes it. just replaced the struts myself...4 hours labor and 250 bucks, whereas the shop wanted 600 just to do the rears.
(WTF?
At free, how can you go wrong? Lets say you drop $500 into getting it running plus some extra love. At any time when you are done with it you should easily be able to unbolt $500 off the car.
At $50 per part you would need to move 10 parts.
I bet in one day (before the junk yard) you could pull the plastic door and fender skins, outside mirrors, taillight and headlights. Add in a few other parts and you are making a profit, not to mention the scap value of the shell. These cars come apart pretty easy.

This is exactly what i was thinking...
Kid, Have you looked into this Sentra?

The ad is vauge about what the drivability/clutch issues are but at 104k miles there should be a ton of life left and great mpg.
Travis_K wrote: Isnt changing a saturn clutch a rather interesting job too?
not really. I've done 4-5 of them over the years - they take about 5 hours on jackstands - faster with a lift.
ok. So im getting the car for $48.98 or somehing like that. Dropping in a clutch. Driving it.
Thats it.
Any good clutch tips? Drop engine and tranny or no?
