Found two differenct 2006 Miata's, both Grand Touring model.

Black with saddle leather and 55k miles

or for a few K more

Red with black leather and 35k miles.

Both places are essentially the same on trade-in, and I'll eat about $1000-1500 on the Mustang. I'm OK with that especially because I didn't put anything down on it. The lower payment, insurance, gas will make up that difference quite quickly.

Just have to decide if the lower miles is worth the few extra thousand, but the wife and I are both off work Friday, so we will be going to get one of them.

I will be relieved to be out from under the insane amount I spend to have a modern muscle car as a DD (gas/insurance/payment = $800 a month! not including oil/tires/etc)

The entire goal is to free up that money for the track car.

As an owner of three black cars, I would payuch extra to get a red one. I'm actually going to wash one of mine right now so it should be clean until tomorrow morning when I drive it.

Black leather will be hot in the summer.
Is that factory leather? I don't know about the 2006 cars but in the earlier models tan was the only leather you could get from the factory, no black.

Quite a few different options with the NC - different type of owner.

Personally, I like black and tan. 20k isn't enough to worry about on a Miata.

Are you tall? I would plan to retrofit later doors if you are. The early cars have a horribly placed cup holder in the door that really digs into your leg on longer drives.

Otherwise my wife and I put 35K onto our 2006 winning blue Sport and loved it. I woudl love to have that car back but we needed to get rid of it.

I also think the black/tan interior looks pretty classy along with the tan top.

I just remember how much fun it was to keep my black Speed 3 clean.......

Now I've just been doing my research on things I can expect to tidy up and such.

I've read it's a good idea to go ahead and replace the plugs since with more and more miles they tend to get pretty well stuck? Will change all fluids, flush brakes, maybe new belts.

Anything else you guys would recommend me looking at closely?

While the black and tan probably looks nice, I am DONE with black cars and would consider the red for that very reason.

^Well I'm going to pick up the black one tomorrow (assuming when I get there , the pictures haven't been hiding something).

If the idea is to get something fun in decent condition that will still be fun to drive, I think I've found it.

2006, Grand Touring, 6spd, 55k miles, only $10,900.

Saddle leather on black is one of the sexiest combos Mazda has ever made. That is all.

That sounds too good to be true. You sure there isn't some glaring fault...........like a seized motor or something??

That's what I'm going to check tomorrow, seems early nice, low model NC's are commonly in the 12-14k range within a few hundred miles, so the price doesn't seem TOO far off.

I think part of it is being out from the two major cities in OK (Tulsa and OKC) its a town of 40k or so that is mostly farming/oil........most dealers sell all trucks down there.

I've done plenty of reading, but it doesn't seem there is too much to look out for if it's running good and interior/exterior are in good shape.

Ugh, black car was not as represented. 3 of the "new" tires were from 07 and dry rotting, the brakes were not "new" and were obviously almost on the wear indicators, sloppily applied touch up paint along the passenger front fender, a bit too many deep scratches for a black car with 55k miles for me..............and the passenger floorboard was SOAKING wet from them washing it.

And the red one in TX (didn't drive, but called and explained what just happened so be straight) told me according to CarFax it had been in an accident, so not interested in looking.

Ugh, no one in Tulsa seems to have one, they are all in the Dallas area for the most part.
