Might have already been posted but it's worth watching more than once. That glorious sound.

Don't know much about the race but it seems like there are some GT4 Caymans in there?

And yeah... he seems to have a slight horsepower advantage.  :)

Does anyone know the engine details? And what is the brake tapping when he's on the power in the straights?

I loved seeing the Porsches getting their asses handed to them.

Thanks for posting

My guess is to keep heat in them or just make sure they work when slowing down.

Yep.  Make sure they are there and ready before something goes seriously sideways.  Into a wall.  Really quickly.

It's a 1965 Shelby GT350. He apparently broke the car and didn't finish the race.

That was David vs Goliath, but with an alternate ending. You know, where Goliath beats the living crap out of David before he can think about even loading a rock in his sling.

I’ve driven a couple cars that needed the brakes tapped before the next corner. Not a lot of fun when you get caught up in traffic and forget to do it and find yourself really needing to have not forgotten. If that makes sense.

I found this from the suggested videos after that one:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lagPLMooz7c

i think that the off/on throttle sound of that 427 might be what haunts my dreams tonight. I’m pretty sure that’s the sound a grizzly makes before it attacks. I smiled so big when he made it past that open top vette and could really open it up. Both of those videos involve some smooth, fast hands to keep their 60s beasts on track. Awesome to see them hustled with such verve and not just displayed on track.

7500 rpm out on the oval is kinda pushing it....

That’s the glorious sound of a well built small block Ford.  It’s why I consider keeping my challenge car and going 363 with it.

I was somewhat interested at onboard video working through the field...and became really intrigued with the mention of the awesome small-block Ford sound....but kicking Porsche ass? Now I’m going to make a point of watching once I’m not on mobile!!

Whoa: quick edit. Dorkdom finally achieved!

Tapping the brakes before the corner might not have to do with heat but with pad knockback. Cars with worn/loose wheel bearings or overly flexible knuckles can pry the brake pads apart with the rotor in a corner, and then when you hit them the pedal almost hits the floor before you get any braking. Touching the brakes before the braking zone makes sure the pads are close to the rotor before the real braking begins.

Damn. Couldn't watch the driving as my eyes were fixed on his footwork. Wish my t56 could shift like that, as I watch the RPMS quickly drop trying to decide if I am in 3rd gear or 5th gear. Whoops, that was 3rd. How about now? Nope, still third.

Being so fast (and having what looked like at least a 100 hp on the other cars), one wonders why he started so far back in the pack.  Perfect track for power over handling.  The only area you can see he has issues is putting down the power coming out of the corners which clearly is not an issue for a 911 or Cayman.
