I plan to get fumoto valves before my next oil change. Is it worth it to get the extras, such as the safety clip, hose, nipple valve vs plain, and an extension(recommended for clearance issues)?
I will be doing both my '09 civic with the R18 and the wife's '03 Accord with a K24.
I had one but the wheel fell off.
I plan to have surgery to externally expose my aorta on the front of my chest.
This will make access much easier for any future cardiac work I need done.
Sure, if I fall, or bump it, or run into something by accident, all the blood may quickly drain out of my body and I will die.
But it's a small price to pay for the convenience. ;)
I use one on my F-150, but the drain plug is way up and well protected. I had one on the Taurus for a while, but it hung down too low and made me nervous.
They are OK. The oil will drain SLOWLY, it's not a very big opening. But it's nice to be able to put a hose on it to drain into a bottle or whatever.
To answer the original question, I didn't get any extras, just the valve.
The safety clip isn't worth it, just use a fat zip tie or hose clamp.
Without nipples they stick out 5/8". That's about twice the thickness of the head of whatever plug is in there now. I've put one on every thing I own for years and and never had an issue.
