Hello all,
With the newly introduced VW warranty I am quite interested in the GTI with DSG and performance package as a do everything/occasional autocross car.
With solo Nationals now over is there a general consensus as to how the manual and dsg compare in autocross competition? For those of you who were there, what did you see/hear?
Any insight greatly appreciated.
Spacecadet is a couple hours from home on his way back from running his FoST in GS at nationals. I'll let him know and see what he learned.
Subbed, though I will probably never go to nationals with any car I own lmao.

Short answer to your question is that the Manual is faster in the national results of GS, the 70 MPH 2nd gear means the cars don't have to shift more than once on even the longest & fastest National AX courses.
The same car that came 2nd last year, came second this year. the Spec Wong GTI.
According to my buddy from Louisiana who has a DSG car, the DSG cannot be prevented from upshifting on redline. He had it happen in a slalom. now, that being said he's not perfect and not the brightest bulb sometimes and there may still be a way to prevent that.
I know of at least 1 GTI that finished in the Top half of the class with a DSG, I finished 0.3 behind him.
come find our "g street scca solo class" group on Facebook if you have social media. I believe the DSG is just compromised, but you might find more insightful answers there. I'm the admin for the group.
Thank you spacecadet. This is the info I was looking for. I have also read that the dsg upshifts at redline which I think is a missed opportunity for such a brilliant transmission.
I will look for your group on Facebook to see what else is available to know about them.
