HOLY FLATNESS
Uh... the T4 Genesis Track already shares identical suspension, brakes, wheels, torsen, etc with the V6 Track. So yes, the T4 R-Spec will be the lightest.
And on the Mustang the new ones (2010) gained weight and use the exact same lumpen V6 and iron block V8 with barely any power and even less torque.
It's all a wash though because of this...

Considering the car has to carry so much crap onboard, pass a litany of crash safety ratings and tests, pass emissions for 50 states and a plethora of other crap..... That car could easily be 2800lbs if they'd let them build a sports coupe.
The gov't isn't entirely to blame. Car buyers and Hyundai's business model are too.
Car buyers like features and creature comforts. Hyundai knows this and makes every feature standard, because it's cheaper to produce cars that are the same.
So the Genesis has: glass sunroof, gajillion speaker sound system, heated power seats, power everything, 19" wheels, etc...
All that stuff adds up fast.
That is a beautiful sight.
Also here is something to back up the gm engine dyno,

Although not as flat, it still holds from 2500 to 5000 with a boost between 25 and 3500

While that is true for the track and base models not intended for the enthusiast, it's not true for the R-spec. IIRC, the R-spec does not have the sunrood, leather or premium stereo.
@P71:
I'm not impressed by the new Camaro in the least. Yes, the engines in it are awesome, but that's it. It's just a Challenger with an LS instead of a Hemi, down to the 2 ton curb weight.
I'd much rather have a 4th-gen LS1 car than a 5th-gen LS3 car.
And I'm not sure where you're getting info that the Mustang is losing torque... the engines are just a carryover from present (which is truly unfortunate.. the 4.0 V6 is a steaming pile of poo, and the 3v 4.6 is a study in what happens when you put high-flowing high-rpm heads on a shortblock designed for low-rpm.).
Camaro is 250Lbs lighter and 10" shorter than the Challenger with more power and torque!
Mustang engines are down on power and torque compared to the other V6/V8 engines across the board. They are underpowered, large, heavy lumps (and I have one!) (PS - talking about the engine not the car).
The v6 torque curve is impressive because it is naturally aspirated. A flat torque curve in a turbo vehicle is easy.
They retested the Genesis because Hyundai insisted there was something wrong with the car they tested. Wrong rear alignment, bad ECU and some worn tires... Might be sketchy, might not but she dropped a bunch of time.
