So, the Volvo has 105K miles on it and it's due a timing belt. Not a hard job, but possibly a time consuming one and as It's my daily and I only get one day a week I could work on it I think it's time to man up and write a check for once. Dealership seems a costly option. Anyone recommend a place around SE Mi that knows the engine rather than a general shop? I'd get everything done while in there, H2O pump, idlers etc. so I'd be good to go for another 100K. I know of Swedish Engineering down by AA Airport. I'm sure there used to be a place that was a Volvo specialist on the North side but I can't remember the name. I'm actually over by Birmingham not AA.

Any ideas

FWIW, the first time I did it, it took me 2.5 hrs. And that wasn't rushing. Get all the parts recommended and it isn't a hard DIY.

Arbor Motion in A2. Used to be Swedish Engineering. Under a new owner and he's making good improvements.

You scared me, I thought something had gone seriously wrong with it.

I had a good impression of Steve's European in Waterford when I took the E30 there last year.

I have been impressed with Quality Foreign Car in Berkley. They seem to do 90% Volvo and Saab, and a mix of old and new models.

I had them convert my 740 AC to 134a, and they tracked down a few odd electrical gremlins while they were at it.

Really, only 2.5hours? Hmm,. maybe I need to look at the procedure. If it's less than a half day maybe I should just go ahead after all.

I guess I should give them a call, certainly a hell of a lot closer than AA.
