I had my 2003 Vibe GT since new. Just got rid of it two months ago when we picked up a new Outback for my wife (tho I still have my 18" rims and tires, I should really post those in the classifieds). The Vibe was definitely reliable transportation and it sounds like that's all you are looking for.

Three things that are good to know. I never considered any of these as deal breakers.

  1. Check the battery. The factory unit is something like 320 CCA's and mine would crank pretty slowly in the middle of winter. I threw in a parts store special with 600 CCA's after a couple years and never thought about it again.

  2. The oil filter is tiny. I seriously could not find a filter wrench small enough. I ended up using a big pair of channel locks when the filters were stubborn. The filter is up high and can be hard to get at with a tool without taking off the front plastic underneath.

  3. The air conditioning can be weak and if you sit in traffic it will cycle on and off. It won't really cool off the car unless you are moving.

Helpful places:

Try Crutchfield for a new radio. I replaced mine easily in less than an hour (aux in FTW)

The Genvibe forum has plenty of platform specific knowledge.
