Since I already have to replace the front calipers on my 97 k1500, any easy upgrades out there?

The brakes are...... adequate now but there's room for improvement

Dunno about the 400s but the 900 front brakes directly bolted up to the 800 fwiw

2500 hd i think are the ones you want. Al9ng with the wheel cylinders.

Get new rubber lines as well.

Skip the gmt800 master swap.

Just better pads are a help if nothing else. Parts store stuff is meh at best.

The commercial grade pads favor function over dust and noise, because roofers and plumbers generally care about braking their overloaded trucks over keeping their wheels clean.

They are available for most trucks and seem to work better and last longer.

I think this seems like the best method.

Yes maybe bigger pistons and such will be better but I think better pads to start off with will make a bigger difference since I'm reading a lot of conflicting reports on how much better the 2500 brakes are

The PPV tahoes ran either the 2500 or 3500 calipers, its a bigger piston and without the low drag seals. I think I documented it in my build thread, but IIRC you still use half ton pads and spread the retainers.

You can look up a PPV tahoe on rock auto and compare part numbers to your truck.

You'll need to log in to post.
