I'm a little confused by the thread, whose comments seem to mostly be "that's neat, but it has no place in this site's discussion of normal hot rods..."
Can't say the car does much for me (not that I have anything but respect for the guy doing a bang-up job of building what he wanted), but jalopyjournal suddenly does even less for me...
You know what, I think I am going to approve of this.......I was worried at first that all it would do is "roll coal" and ruin the whole thing for me......after watching the video, I am happy, and approve.
Im glad it isn't diesel rice
I think it qualifies as a "hot rod" it is built up from parts into something traditional looking... and it spins the tyres through 3 gears!

This.
For the record, it's pretty darn cool.

The HAMB has a pretty specific focus - rods and customs, 1964 and earlier, built in the tradition and style of that era. It's stated right up front. This car may be technically interesting but it's definitely not appropriate for that website. They have a sister site called http://www.dogfightmag.com/forum/ for cars that don't fit into the HAMB format.
There are people there who get all prickly about it when someone posts an off topic car, but the interesting thing about it is they tend to be fairly new members who don't have moderating privileges anyway - generally, the people in charge don't make a big stink about things, but if a car is clearly not appropriate they'll just lock the thread and go on. Having said that, the amount of traffic there is so high it's impossible for them to monitor every post.
In reply to stuart in mn:
I don't go there very often, but I'm still wondering how a 60's diesel in a T-bucket is NOT in their focus?
As loud as the detroit's are I'd have to wear ear plugs to drive that thing, even if it was muffled!

Their intent is to focus on how cars were built back then, and no one was putting Diesel engines in T-buckets in the early 1960s.

In that case, how do they respond to "put an LSx in it"?
Every other car forum I have crossed has always sent me running back to the relative sanity that is GRM.
Otherwise a cool car.
