You are correct, the 6.9 Bender is uber cool, but no Ferrari. Yes the Lambo is just a shell, thankfully! The real car is somewhat unpleasant to drive, but, oh so gorgeous-and the sound is unmatched.

I should've added "King if the Mountain"....cheesy music biz sub-plot, but Hopper is great. I also forgot Viva Las Vegas...cool period racing.

The Seven-Ups with Roy Scheider. Very cool chase scene through NYC choreographed by the guy who did the chase for Bullitt.

There's a reason why Sweet James is not known for his acting.. it's called " Two Lane Blacktop" It ends with the film burning up.

They should have lit it up about two hours earlier

That was the Dodge/PPG pacecar (a.k.a. the MS4) from the mid 1980s. They only built a handful, but there's still more than one around....(despite the line in the movie)

How funny would a fifth sequel be if it reflected the theme of this magazine or forum? Also, my favorite car movie was the modern, Nick Cage Gone in 60 Seconds.

The French Connection. Car/train chase. One part of the chase a car backes out of a driveway. That was a civilian going to work not a stunt person. Mickey Rooney in the BIG WHEEL, migets and indy cars in the late 40's. Or the original version with James Cagney set in the 30's. Both had great shots of old races with good action considering when they were made

If this thread was about the worst car movie ever made, it would have to be " Driven" with Stallone.

The scene where they jump into CART champ cars on display at a hotel party, start them up , and then race each other through the streets of Chicago is priceless.

Whenever I hear "Song 5" (or whatever number it is) by Jet, I think of that movie and just want to do the biggest tire smoking launch in my M!

I hate to admit that I actually liked (and own) the original Fast and Furious...It came out the summer after I graduated high school...and yes I actually put 12 inch wal-mart neon tubes under my escort gt.... yuk, luckily they only lasted about a week!

I was a little pumped to see the preview for F&F 4...I hope it doesnt bring back the fart can mufflers hanging out of accents with spining hub caps, but for my generation about the best car movie made for the theater.

Speaking of bad movies ... Grand Theft Auto is on right now. Opie and his girlfriend run away in a Rolls, get chased. Hilarity ensues, kind of.

Bad movies...toss up between "Driven" and "Redline" the ultimate torture for a gearhead would be to be forced to watch them both one after the other

Another oldie - The Racers, with Kirk Douglas - filmed back in the '50s.

RE/ Duel: Dennis Weaver used to live about ten miles from my house. A very nice guy. Unfortunately, he passed away last year. If you are ever passing through Ridgway, Colorado there is a very nice memorial park donated to the town by his family that features an incredible bronze eagle with a 21-foot wingspan. Stopping to see the park only takes a few minutes, but is well worth it.

All of you guys who don't think a benz can handle should see rendezvous. The only problem is the annoying dubbed ferrari sound, it is truly aweful. A mercedes sounds much different and less exciting.

After that see ronin and what the 6.9er actually looks like, it doesn't look too hot going through the curves fast even with the hydraulic suspension.

Since all of the movies I thought were cool have been covered even the most obscure, how about the beginning scene in the texas chainsaw massacre. I may be partial but in the first few they always end up chasing a benz off the road with an old american pickup. Pure fantasy given the top end of the benz, but interesting.

Not movies, but I should point out that those who do not own the Victory By Design dvds is sorely missing out on (some of?) the finest automotive media on God's green Earth.

New ones just came out, I need to go put in an order for them. Supposedly their next series was going to be about AMC.
