Thanks for the calls and emails. We will miss all of you also.
With both boys in college we are scratching to make ends meet. Last year was a real stretch to go when we decided 10 days before the event (And we thought we were tight last year...HA!). We do have cars ready for this year. But, we only have a fixed amount for our racing. Unfortunately we had to buy some safety equipment earlier in the year for our long term project and that drained the tank. Just have not been able to recharge those $.
Icing the decision is the fact that Cameron's Campus Open House is next weekend and we have not seen him in 3 weeks. And, there is a Gasser/Nostagia/Jalopy race 60 miles from the campus, and fuel is over $4, and the boys would have to miss classes and Cameron is 123 miles North with no car, and, and, and, and, and. So we are racing the Henry J and doing a cheap family thing and going to the Home Coming/Open House.
IF we can afford to come to the $2013 Challenge, we are planning on it. We will have to do it without the boys and they are VERY disappointed that we aren't going to make it this year and even more bummed that we may go without them next year. We have some really cool projects that will be fun to share.
The big item I wanted to share is that we are hoping the best of luck for everyone. We are really going to miss all of you.

I am sorry to hear that, Andy. I was really pulling for you. I was confident this was your year.
I join in your well wishes to the participants. I will also not be able to make it.
But 2 cars are nearly finished and I'll be racing them all year, so you turkeys better watch out next year!
Best of luck. We will miss you.

Will do. Hope to have it ready next year. Dad and I are thinking about throwing it on a trailer and towing it up Friday, as is, just so people can see it as it is right now.

You can't!?!?!?!...HA....
FWIW, that has been a consistant comment. Hard to believe they were 12 and 10 at our first Challenge.
The boys have a bright futures and we are excited about where it will push our racing exploits in the future. Both are pulling straight A's in Engineering and they are both in the Honors program.

I'm sure being home schooled in "Automotive Badassery" didn't hurt.

My son was 15 at that same Challenge. He drove the autocross on the road course.
He is now graduated from college and married. His little sister (who was also on that team) has also graduated, spent a year in Korea teaching, and is now working on her master's degree.
Just to make some of you young farts feel not-so-young!
