In a bind, need a clutch kit for an 05 Legacy gt 5 speed, little money. Eyeing the LuK brand as that is OEM for a lot of cars from what iver read and its $200 shipped. Would like Exedy but thats another $140 more and I don't have it. Any and all first hand experiences are welcome
I've had good luck with LuK. Last LuK kit I bought for my BMW had Sachs (BMW OEM) parts in the box. I was quite pleased as the same parts in a Sachs box were $100+ more.
I've used LuK and Sachs on pretty much everything (including my 290whp WRX) and always been happy with them.
I've heard enough, going with LuK. Thats what we put in my Matrix XRS and it was great (the synchros were toast, thanks PO) but the clutch felt good and held well
Its a Subaru so if I believe what I hear, the motor or the trans will be out again before the clutch is an issue, so if I need more clamping strength ill trade up then. BTW, it already has a single mass set up from an 07 WRX
I just installed an Exedy in my Branger to replace a faulty Luk. Who knows what caused it to fail after 20k.
I have also had good results using Exedy clutch products on multiple cars.
Luk brand replacement is in my Outback, 40,000 miles and counting.
Thanks all, I ordered a Luk from Carr ID this morning, little bit more than Rock Auto but an actual person answered the phone and for a bit less than RA plus shipping to get it here before lunch monday.
I put an Exedy in my WRX and it was grand.
Unfortunately I'm low on funds right now, "good enough" will have to be good enough
