Ah, always good to abuse cars that are being developed.

Which partially explains why they are developed.

(unless it's only obvious to me that it was a prototype)

It was test mule, for sure. Just funny how many issues Ford has had over the decades and they always involve fire.

In that respect.... did Honda sub-contract out the new NSX to Ford?

But they didn't involve spontaneously bursting into flames. That was the Ford Cruise Control switch from the 90's.

I don't think the people inside care how it catches on fire, only that it is.

Teslas have been more recetly caught on fire.

It's only a connection if you are looking for one. If not, that's why the cars get developed.

Apparently people on this board have suffered from a complete loss of humor. I suggest you go buy some, then come back and have some actual fun. No need to get your panties wadded over jokes.

It's always interesting to me to read the comments on prototype cars in field testing and laugh about how wrong they are, for example from the SuperDuty article:

"They were towing a trailer filled with water, they must have known it could catch fire!"

They were towing a trailer filled with water because it's the easiest way to alter trailer weight depending on the prototype you're testing that day. The same trailer can be 1500, 5000, or 10000+ lbs with a hose and a floor drain.

I saw someone swear that a prototype was a hybrid because it had a small sticker on the side view mirror. He was absolutely insistent, even teasing other people for not knowing what that meant. In reality, it was a smiley face sticker I put on while loading the vehicles at 2am to ship out.

Most of the abberations on prototype vehicles are fueled by no sleep and Redbull and don't let anyone tell you different.

I saw this posted on MSN as well... not sure why it's newsworthy... so a prototype truck caught on fire during testing... BFD... that's what they do...

I just feel bad for the poor SOB who is ultimately to blame after they figure out why. That's likely a lot of man-hours up in smoke.
