meh...just some fun pics of me and my neighbors digging out and 4x4ing out of our culdesac/street/adjoining street since we apparently don't rank very high on the list of places that Virginia DOT sends plows to after 30+" of snow.
4Runner is my wifes. We used 4 shovels, it, a Durango, a Suburban, and a Tahoe (all pretty much stock) to blast out of almost 3' of unplowed snow...uphill.
Some pics just because there will clearly be no early-season autocross around here....
a neighbor up the street thought she could play too. Told me that she would have alot less trouble than my 4Runner, since she had "more ground clearance and a V8." She made it about 8 feet out of her driveway. She also had (to her surprise) nearly bald tires. A valiant effort - she had to go pick up her parents, who had no power for 2 days. The guy with the Durango lent it to her later in the day once we got out....

the street across from us....no vehicles exited for 2 days. Those are just 3' deep footpaths...
ours....still no plow, but passable
little do the neighbors know that the entire effort was just a way for me to get the WRX out!
next time, I'm renting one of these
and a gratuitous pic of my wife/daughter and the neigbor's dog, who is known to pull sleds up and down the street

Looks like fun! Cool dog too, really making me miss ralph.
yeah, he's a big teddy bear. My dog is somewhat (about 80%) smaller, but likes the snow just as much
did manage to get out the night while it was snowing for a few quick donuts before it got too deep for the rex...

This thread has both my most and least favorite snowy weather activities...
I miss driving in the white stuff, but swore I'd never own another snow shovel. Looks like you're making the best of it, just be glad precipitation like that is moderately rare there. Throw some snowballs for me!
dammit, I need to throw my GRM magnets on the car and go take some snow pics
You win the snow contest this year :)

The GT6 is apparently going to be in hibernation for some time. And I had been so good all winter about getting it out and freezing my ass off while driving 10-15 miles every Sunday.

The Tranny Shop.
nah, actually the Suburban he was using to blast a path backwards across the cul-de-sac for another neighbor across the way, trying to connect them to the "main path" we had already dug out. On the 5th run, he finally got bottomed out. But he had his wife's trailblazer in the driveway so we hooked it up and the blazer gave it enough of a tug to get it loose. Actually looked pretty easy.
They needed to get out more than anyone, since he's a firefighter and she's an EMT. They had both had to hike it 3 blocks in the snow to get lifts into work the day before.
Mine went to bed back in Oct, but that was to allow me to work on the FIAT.
Still this time last year we had way more snow.

Southern Ontario is in a snow-drought this year. I now know where it's gone :)
I love big snow dumps, though. It forces everyone to slow down, and it really can bring a neighbourhood together.
Glad to see you can smile about it, and thank you for taking the snow load for us in upstate New York.
My snowblower hasn't been out yet.

You wouldn't want to express ship it down, would you?
I love the fully shoveled driveways leading to 3' of snow in the road...
// My only saving grace in a townhouse has been a neighbor who only has 1 car... and a car-sized lump of snow in their other parking space!
A heavy dog with short legs has no luck in this snow until the powder has had a chance to pack down a bit!

Here's what my Miata looked like...
The car is now snow-free, but I haven't tried to move it yet. This is just crazy weather for Virginia. I'm ditching the all-season run-flats on the MINI for Hakkapeliittas next year.

And you won't get 1/4" of snow.
In reply to ZOO:
I agree! no snow (practically) really sucks! You guys down south are having all the fun! I'm jealous and I want my snow back.
indeed....in this weather, the answer is most certainly not miata

Looks like someone could use a specialty vehicle like one of these.

Looks familiar. had to push my way down the street in 2+ ft with the Range Rover, as it wasn't going to be plowed. Pushed a fan out in front of the driveway just the same, then pushed down to the end of the street.
So many people unable to move in this stuff.

Usually, that's what we call "an overnight dusting".

Funny, just moved to Arlington last fall. Everyone says it hardly snows and here I am stuck under 30" and counting. My WRX is on UHP summer tires, my M3 is on extreme summer tires, my MG is on all seasons, and all are buried. I moved the MG out of the garage so at least I could work on the boy's cyclekart. Pictures of (buried) M3 and 69 Midget to follow.
Just went and shoveled a fresh 2 1/2" off the driveway (needed to blow some energy after G.Mason's OT win over VCU!!!!!!).
This new stuff is really, really heavy. Felt like I was lifting 6" of snow not 2 1/2", plus all the piles along my driveway are now over 6' tall, so you really have to give it a good toss.
Tomorrow is gonna be brutal....another foot and windy, cold, blizzard-like conditions.
Yup, I'll definitely try to get the subie out. With my wife nearby in the 4Runner for extraction if needed, lol...
