I went to the Greenwich Concours yesterday. It's one of those events that always sneaks past me for some reason, so I was glad to finally get a chance to attend.
As someone who was born and raised in Connecticut, I should point out that I see most of these cars along my daily commute.
Actually...no. It's been a few years since I've spent any time in Greenwich and it's a bit like visiting another planet, only more expensive. I have never seen more Aston Martin's (apparently daily driven) in my life. Along with Maseratis, they seem to be the current chosen car of the very wealthy. On the way home, it was actually sort of relaxing to get off the Merritt Parkway in Wilton, where the regular rich people drive their kids to lacrosse practice in BMWs and Range Rovers like the rest of us.
I enjoyed the event, but I doubt I'll ever pay $30 to get into a car show again. I took a bunch of photos, but I was at the mercy of the crowd and shadows.
Horch:
Mrs. Chrysler's Chrysler:
I remember reading about this car 20 years ago, but never really liked it. It is stunning in person:
This was not the only Cisistalia there:
Corvette (yup):
I've been interested in Hebmüllers for 25 years, but this is the first one I've ever seen.
And this was just completely badass:
Recreation, but still interesting:
You needed to purchase a catalog to get into the Bonham's auction, so I just peeked over the fence.
There were also a bunch of normal cars that you would see at a typical cruise night like GTOs and Miuras:
I've seen several of these in the past year. They're starting to sneak into the country:
Another Fiat:
Siata:
