Joey, a crapcan race doesn't have to be a "bucket list" item. You can get an arrive-and-drive seat with a number of different teams and rent your race gear from racesuitrental.com. Though it is super rewarding to spend a year building a car and putting together a team, it's not easy or cheap. Arrive and drive is the easy way to try it out. Next time there's a Chump race near you, start poking around the Chump forum for available seats.
The one you guys ran is the one that is closest to me. I would really like to try it in the future, but need to save up to do so.
Joey, plus they run Daytona, too. Arrive and drive could be the answer.
And while the track time, competition and problem solving are fun, the teamwork needed to survive an enduro might be the big reason to do one.

I crewed for the #148 CTM E30 team. It was my first experience with Chump, and we ended up finishing 45/95. Things seemed to be going great until the car died literally on our first pit-in lap. We had to get towed back, and chased the problem throughout the day--tried a few fixes, and ultimately it seemed to be that the fuel pump relay was popping out. Around 9:30 the left rear caliper fell the berkeley off and wedged against the wheel, but we got it fixed and finished the race.
It was an interesting experience. I'd recommend everyone try it at least once just to see the atmosphere, and what it really means to be at the track for 16+ hours straight. Between that and the 10+ hour drive home, I'm a little tired.
