Silver fleet, You were right on the money with that post. Just because you have to sell a lot of cars doesnt mean they have to be ugly and slow. Many of us remember the old Nissan (Datsun) that set the trends and didn't follow them. I think Hyundai/Kia are the new Honda and Nissan. Oh well, I guess if the sales numbers show profit not much is likely to change.

I only hope that we continue to be an apealing enough market that the truly enthusiast oriented car continues to be made and isn't just stickers and wheels to get the mass market to think there car is fast. Also I hope that just like the good old days new players enter the market first appealing to those market shares to small for the big manufacturer's to bother with continuing to supply us with what we want.

Probably not.

Since most the whiners won't buy new cars.

but that argument is way old.

The Z-car is, right now, the only new car that fits the 90's Japanese muscle car mold in terms of pricing and character. The alternatives are either smaller, lighter, and cheaper (Miata, Toyobaru twins), or not built in Japan and also cheaper (Genny Coupe, Mustang). Nissan is promising the next Z-car will be smaller and lighter, and I wouldn't be surprised if its MSRP came down too.

Oh and that sucks.

I was hoping the next Z was going to be a 400Z with a revvy V8.

I hear the factory is going to release a used model. That should drive up sales with a lot of people on this board!

In truth, Nissan missed the boat when they did not redo the 240z in a modern interpretation. The frisbee beat them to it.
