While JG is enjoying his Volvo adventure in the great white North, Tom and I will be headed up to Virgina this weekend to deliver the Project Neon to its new home. Never ones to drive around with an empty trailer, we will be picking up this TR-6 in VA, and bringing it back to the GRM headquarters in FLA.
If you see the GRM Pathfinder on I95 this weekend, make sure to wave, moon us, flip us the bird, or buy us lunch!
And yes, this TR-6 will be replacing the one I picked up a few years ago in New Hampshire, which still runs and drives well, but just isn't quite as rust-free or pretty as this new one.
If anyone is interested in a good driver, solid framed TR-6 for around $4,500 OBO pm me and let me know. The car will not have its overdrive when sold. (going in new car)

Care to elaborate on the rust??
In reply to spitfirebill:
If you check out the link above, and look at all of the updates there are pics of the rusty spots. Frame is solid, body has a bit of rust. Feel free to PM me for more info.

I love red line tires. And TR6's as well. Perfect combo.

Yeah, I like the look of the redlines as well. Unfortunately, these are about 20 years old, and in need of replacement. I think the plan will be to fit a set of the new VTO Performance "Libre" type wheels. They come in a 15" size, and I think they will look great on the 6.
Once the car is home and I've had a chance to examine it, I'll make sure to post some more pics, and info.
Anyone have any ideas on good food stops between Daytona Beach and Richmond VA?
South of the Border does not count!
What are your plans for the 6? anything crazy, or just a restoration?

I've been going back and forth over how crazy I should get with it. Cosmetically I'm not going to mess with it too badly. (Wheels, OEM front spoiler, new seats, dash, etc)
I do plan on making the handling a bit more aggressive than stock, as this car will see some auto-x duty. A good freshening of bushings, dampers, springs is in the plans.
I'm on the fence deciding if I'm going to add a Moss supercharger, or just breathe on the stock powerplant a bit. This may sound strange, and foreign, but I'm not sure how fast it needs to be. These cars to me are more about the sound, feel, and overall experience rather than all out speed. I also think that a warmed-over TR-6 with nice exhaust sounds just glorious!
I'll probably go the N/A route for now, and enjoy the car. Eventually it will get a new paintjob, but I'm one of those weirdos that isn't all that attracted to shiny cars. I prefer a bit of patina, and this car seems to have that in spades!
BMW M six maybe? s52s can be had cheap with their fuel injection intact.... hint hint, nudge nudge

Nah, I've got a S52 in my other car, and it is perfectly happy staying where it is.
Besides, I LIKE carburetors, especially on an old car like a TR-6. All that sputtering, sucking, and spiting adds character!
I autocross with a charater who has dropped a 231 buick V-6 into his, he has also done a bunch of suspension work to the car. He is frequently in the running for TTOD at our club.
Here is a bit of inspiration for ya
when I was looking for a picture of his car I also found a good writup:

Pretty mean looking TR-6. I was at a British V8 club meet at Flying Circus English Cars this Summer and there was a very nice LS1 TR-6.

hmmmmm....
What's wrong with SOB. You don't want to eat with Pedro?
If you want to eat while in Richmond, my duaghter works at Capital Ale. Its somewhere downtown.
There's a guy around DC with a TR^ with a 351 in it. I've seen him autocross though it's more of a track day car. He's running a 9" rear ,the stock rear suspension is not real stout.
