GRMers: Talk me out of buying a KLZE Probe.

Specifically THIS Probe.

I'm fairly certain I dropped a valve in my old relatively stockish 94PGT on the way to work, and while looking at getting it fixed, my girlfriend commented about how many other things it needed, and maybe it's better to look for a new beater.

My poor Probe has been cursed from the start, since my brother rear-ended me in his Escort on the day I took delivery of it.

Anyway, my wants at the moment are, 1993 or older to be eligible for MD historic tags, somewhat fuel efficient, and fun to drive and maybe run to Cumberland for an auto-x. All for a budget of near 2 grand.

And if anyone wants a good deal on a wounded PGT, make me an offer. Beat the scrap man, and most likely it's yours.

Miata?

I always though the Probe and MX6 were pretty cool too though.

My guess is that Swank Force One will chime in any minute, and my other guess is that he'll say "BUY IT"!

You already know the probe and that one looks like a good deal. Why would we talk you out of it?

That one seems to have a tasteful parts list, which isnt to say that the craftsmanship used to put it together was necessarily great. You'll have to eyeball it in person to figure that out.

I think if it looks decent and you can get it for the money you have, go for it!

berkeleying E36 M3 man, buy it! get a receipt for $1500 for the car and $1000 for the spares, sell all the spares and buy a set of V710s. i've got the 626 rear swaybar and bushings you need to make it turn, and i've also got the front camber bolts you need to make it turn more. wheel out the paint, hook up a dry 50-shot, and that right there is a recipe for Challenge sweetness!

I'm surprised its still available, but then again it seems like PGT's languish on CL FOREVER. You can't give them away.

If I end up with it, I'd love to drive it down for a mini-vacation and do the Challenge. I guess I will go look at her soon.

A slightly modded KLZE isn't any less reliable then the stock KLDE, right?

Can't decide if GRM trashed is better, or worse than CL trashed. Probably uglier, but way better maintained.
