Weight was never an issue with that 2500 Dodge.

Then I moved to this....

The GRM part is my "custom" front work bench/tool/parts storage area. Made from Garage storage racks and a 4x8 sheet of plywood. The rack was painted in the same color as my 944 using what was left over the gun as did some body repairs. The grey is an expoy based porch paint. This also covers the trailer floor to keep oils from penetrating the wood.

i paid $1200 for an at the time 7 year old 18' dovetail equipment trailer with new wood deck, brakes, ramps, and a year old $479 superwinch mounted on it.

i doubt i could build my trailer for what i paid not even counting the winch.

there are usually decent $5-700 car haulers on CL around here, or $1200 cars that include the trailer because it is really a $500 car.

Well, poop. My friend went to look at the trailer, and it's not at all what the seller listed. The picture showed an open-deck steel trailer, and when he showed up to look at it, it was just a lowboy with a wooden deck. The seller wasn't home, hopefully there was just a miscommunication. Kind of doubt it, though.

Keep looking -- the deals are out there..........

I just got my mitts on a 16' rollback trailer with an aluminum deck, dovetail, electric brakes, and a gravel guard up front -- only $1400! A little over your budget perhaps, but I like the rollback -- makes loading easy to do with only 1 person, no need for ramps, and very nice for cars with little ground clearance. It does need a few things here and there -- a little rewiring is needed -- specifically for the 4 lights that are in the deck -- just the thing for loading at night
