Check out the NWOR region SCCA, too. We have one of the best sites at toledo express, too! Www.nworscca.com

I have been to a variety of autoX events in various states and from various clubs (SCCA and non) and I don't think that I have been to any event runs on time or smooth. All of them are mostly newbie unfriendly and each group has its strengths and weaknesses, I would just go search out the best competition with the best courses. Many people will just be selfish by showing up then race then leave immediately.

Or just avoid all that and just do track days or join us in the dirt :)

Best advice is to try several different groups. Each have their own pros and cons. Last year I did DetSCCA, SvrSCCA, NworSCCA, SCCA national, Corvette Club Michigan, Michigan Sports Car Club, and Furrin Group. I missed both Alfa events due to scheduling, but have been to a ton of those over the years too.

I like them all in their own ways, and plan on going yo run with all those groups again. But then again I'm not the type to bitch at anyone that lets me go have fun with my car. Looks like a lot of whiners above are. Don't listen to them, form your own opinion.

Between Detroit Region and Northwest Ohio, it is pretty much no contest, NWOR all the way. Fantastic region with well run events, with about half of them at one of the best sites this side of Lincoln. Their Pro class has a lot of people that travels to tours and nationals, and there are more than a couple national champions that run there. They only do autocross, so you don't get all the RR vs AX drama some clubs deal with.

Really one of the better all-around autocross clubs I've every run with. The people are nice enough, and their novice class season long championship (PAX, like a Pro class) is pretty cool.
