Going to look at a first gen GS300 to dd. It looks clean in the pics but it's got 247000 miles on it. Is this a bad idea? Any suggestions & opinions are welcome folks

Non VVTI 2JZGE = non-interference motor. If it hasn't been overheated or oil starved it should run forever.

Lexus (Lexii?) from that era seem to suffer from;
LCD on climate control failing (desolder old, solder in new)
Needles on Speedo cluster not illuminating (there's a conductive film on the backside of the needle that delaminates and cracks)
Capacitors in ECU leak out and need to be replaced (solder in high quality low ESR caps)
Power steering pump and rack and pinion will be leaky and need to be replaced.
The original keys had a button on the side of the housing that was the remote lock/unlock, likely that key is long gone by now.
Leather will probably be cracked. Seatbelt might not retract fully or will do so slowly.

No info specific to the GS300 as I haven't any experience with them (93 LS400, 02 IS300 and just helped my cousin buy a 93 SC300) but aside from the 2JZ not having good MPGs, it's like any other old car. If it's well kept it'll be reliable, they're built pretty solidly and the ride will be quiet and comfy.

my experiences with gs's have been decidedly positive. I'd buy one in a heartbeat if they were my thing, though I'd definitely get the 400. Not that a 2jz is ever a bad thing, just a lot of car for an na 3 liter to haul around. I think that era lexi are the best value in the automotive kingdom at the moment.
