Yeah, the physics change alone from GT4 to GT5P would be worth it, and from what I've heard from people who've actually played the game, GT5 is even better.
A few days ago, I got the chance to take the Dupont 24 stock car around R246 Raceway. Interesting. It will definitely be a new experience trying to westle a stock car around some of these tracks I know so well. Odds are, a whole bunch of cars will eventually wide up available for download off the internet. The game looks great. I just hope it delivers where it really counts. The folks that make the GT games have never disappointed me yet, so I don't think they will now. Supposed to rain around here on Thursday. If it does, I'll be glued to my PS3. GT5 is the main reason I even own a PS3.
When you uhhh... you know... want to drive something with a little more "realness" and say you already have a computer....
Yeah GT games are the only reason i stick with playstation. Also, +1 on PC racing sims. Amazing stuff, very realistic, but i can't make a turbocharged delorean rally car on iRacing, so its gran turismo for me. (i do have RFactor, though, good stuff)

I've been playing GT5 Prologue for a while now and for me, it's more fun to race against other players using high end hardware and get quick lap times, rather than trying to coax a Suzuki Cappacino around the track in a respectable time (despite what a cool little car it is). Yes, it may cost you $500 to play GT5 if you don't have a PS3 already, but you can't penalize a $60 game of this calibre becasue you don't have the equipment to play it on. If that was the case, you need to add the $700 TV to play it on and the $300 couch you will need to sit on to play it and the $20/month internet access to play online. My 2 cents. You forgot 200$ for a decent wheel/pedal set, and another grand for a good surround sound/cockpit setup.
Actually, they're not. I paid over $40.00 for Excite Bike for Nintendo back in 86.
only 8.5 hours 'till the local target opens up. 9.5 'till the best buy across the parking lot opens, just in case the people working at target decide to take their sweet time deciding where to put it on the shelves of thier most disorganized target ever.
srsly, who puts the light bulbs far away from the lights, the cat litter in the bedsheet eisle, and the automotive section far from the 'tools' section which is itself far from the 'home improvement' section? (but between these was the toy section, and in the next gap was the halloween section, which itself was seperate from the toys, by the tool section). Oh, and workout stuff obviously goes by the videogames, because we all know how much gamers LOVE to feel their abs burn...
Review is up on IGN, sounds like a mixed bag:

If I had a 360 I'd go for Forza. Since I only have a PS3 I guess this will do. Maybe some of this stuff will be fixed for GT6 when it comes out in 2635.

I gave up a fair amount of my childhood to that game.

I was just being facetious. I'm not real thrilled about the list, either, but i can only hope that they'll release more car packs later, or that the gameplay will make up for it.
I hate that there are certain cars missing from GT4, but i've played it since it came out, and STILL play it to this day.
definatly on my x mas list. im not really worried about the car list. with all the DLC nowadays. if theres a car that you want it will become availible. i want to race on Top Gear test track

Kaz has said that there will be very little in the way of DLC, since they are hard at work on GT6. Also, the Top Gear test track is a figure 8, so there's no racing on it.

You can race on it in rFactor

You guys have to remember why Nissan has such a huge presence in GT games, they seem to have bought their way into the game. I remember reading that Nissan is using the GT games as advertising, even if it is mostly R-chassis Skylines.

I don't know if I'd use the term "bought". There's definitely a relationship there, though.
Nissan had Polyphony Digital to the GUI for the GT-R. That's probably the real reason GT5 is so late.

You can race on it in GT5, as well.

I read about that, and that is where I had also read that Nissan is using the GT series as a vehicle to show off their wares to the world, as Polyphony Digital made the statement that they hoped that more manufacturers would follow suit and use the game in the same manner. More monetary backing, more cars, better game, or we hope. I'm still waiting for GM to give the go ahead for the Pontiac Fiero GT/Formula to go against the RX7, Mister 2, and others in that class. (Can you tell I love the little car?) And yes, Nissan handed over cars and money to Polyphony Digital to be able to slide in so many cars into the GT series of games. Very close relationship there.

You can not race on it. You can only run single car laps.

It seems like I read something like that a few years ago . . .

From a thread at gtplanet.com, pretty much THE forum for Gran Turismo.

General consensus is: We waited 6 years for this?
The Good:
1 - The premium cars are thing to behold. Same with the premium tracks. 2 - The Physics are very rewarding, especially if you have a wheel. 3 - Day/Night and weather effects are awesome.
The Bad:
1 - The standard cars are an embarrassment. 2 - The AI is as dumb as ever. 3 - Online is buggy and not well implemented (No leaderboards at this point). 4 - The leveling system is stupid. (All cars and tracks are not open from the start, not even in the arcade mode) One thing that Forza and PGR have implemented that should be in every racing game. 5 - Game freezes and is buggy even offline.
