A bunch of the local autox guys went in and rented a Chevy mini van a few years back for the last event of the year which isn't for points. They loaded up the back with people for each run. The transmission started making some interesting noises by the end of the day.

We made fun runs with a rental Passat at the challenge this year...with all four of us in it! Was faster than I thought it would be....I think its best run was a 50.xx. 
I was out at a Nelson Ledges this summer and found a small group of people who had rented a Volvo S60 to thrash on all day. Seemed to hold up to the abuse just fine.
As we all know, nothing is faster than a rental car.
