Driving down I75. What is best way around the Alanta nightmare ?
I-285, unless it's between 3 and 7 p.m. (in which case it will take you ~2+ hours to get from 75@285 to 85@985.
A better bet might be to take GA-20 from Cartersville, but that's a surface street and you'll have lots of lights between there and I-85.
Why are you going anywhere near Atlanta? When we went to the Mitty we exited off I-75 in Tennessee some 20 miles short of the Georgia border and backroaded in. Easy and a great drive.
I'll be leaving Nashville on Thursday around 11cst if anyone wants to caravan down. Probably doing like crewperson said and gonna switch to B roads around the state line.
Woohoo! I'm all loaded up, and should be headed up there at about 9am tomorrow morning.
See you all at Turn 3!

I'd give the opposite advice. 285 is gridlock between the hours of 6am, to 8pm. Seriously. I look at it during the day just for amusement. Since the collapse, it is literally always red on Google maps.
We'll be coming in from the north on Thursday morning. I plan on the backroad approach, although it's a bit of a pain with 10,000 lb worth of trailer. Better than ATL traffic even without a missing bridge!
Every year I have to play Army on the Mitty weekend but I will be retired next month so next year is on the calendar.
Road Atlanta is on Highway 53, which crosses I-75 south of Dalton. I have done that drive, but I admit it was like 20 years ago. It's not the fastest route, but it's scenic and curvy.
