Yup, I said it, ban me, burn me, troll me, shoot me in the head with infinite facepalm posts.
I like Crossovers. I think it is a clever solution to on of Americas biggest problems. We hate station wagons, but we love them when we put a lift kit on them and put big motors in them and call them SUVs. Ha! Auto manufactures! You didn't think we would notice. We know the Subruban was just an over sized station wagon on a truck frame. We know that is all you have been doing for years. We know that the crossover is just a station wagon with a mild lift and few extra inches between the belt line and the floor pan.
We know, but we won't tell your secrets to the soccer moms and metros buying crossovers in groves.
I love my X3, I want a Macan about as much as a normal human being can want something they have only seen pics of. I like the Audi Q3 and Q5 and can not for the life me see why someone would pay more for an Allroad than a Q5.
Now don't miss-understand me. The early crossovers weren't great, they weren't even mediocre, some were down right scary in how they drove. But they have evolved into something that gives their sedan donors a run for their money.
I am FlightService and I like crossovers.
Any thoughts on Korean Crossovers?
Admitting you have a problem is the first step towards a cure. Be proud you've taken that step. Now I challenge you to take the next step. Keep going and within a few months you'll realize that liking crossovers is not something you should be doing.
I also want a Maccan but I want to tell myself that I don't like crossovers. I really hope they depreciate like Cayannes.
Ok i'll admit it.... i want an X6M.
SO BAD.
And if the X3 can be had with AWD and the 3.5TT motor, i'll take that for the wife, please and thank you.
In reply to Swank Force One:
AWD is standard and the 3.0L TT is an option. You want a 2014 X3 xDrive35i

Is it an average crossover making rest of the crossovers less than average, that is the question.
My wife unfortunately loves the damn things because they sit up high. I hate them because they sit up high.
Lower>higher to a point obviously.

Your wrong, your opinion is wrong, the fact you stated it for other people to read is wrong.
If you have a problem with this, go tell your wife LOL
I never think of automobiles in those terms: car, truck, suv, crossover etc.
I like or don't like something based on its very specific merits. I don't like ALL cars because I like cars. I like specific trucks and suv's while I dislike others. Similar to the way I like shoes... just because something is a "shoe" doesn't mean I'll like it.
Liking a BMW crossover doesn't mean you're going to like the Traverse next lane over.
Make sense?
Crossovers aren't for me, but I also like that they're slowly getting SUV drivers into a more reasonably sized car. Most of them will be fine with something the size of an SX4, which they've almost been tricked into now.

That is just above the point where it becomes hard to judge how far away the corners are until you're nearly on top of them, which is somewhere between a low-slung sports car and an F1 car.

All cross-dressers aren't gay ya know, just some of us!
Do "Cute-utes" count?
I'm usually in the minority, but I love these things, they just decided to price them outside of even remote feasibility for me when new. Now that there's a couple years worth of used on the market, I find myself looking at them more and more often.
I HATE crossovers. I would much rather have a standard sedan/wagon...
That Eagle is looking pretty tempting, though... Oooh, yeah, maybe an SX4?
I would rather the average soccer mom get out of her SUV and into a Crossover

So... you're saying you like it when you're deliberately fed bullE36 M3 and tricked into buying something that was already available, except that now it has a higher price tag and worse dynamics?
If the best you can say about them is "they're more suited to the general public's actual needs than an oversized SUV", that's still not saying anything good about crossovers.

Speaking as a BMW owner and CCA member, I'm going to tell you politely that the X6M represents everything I utterly loathe about the modern BMW corporate design policy. I despise it as a vehicle, and for all that it represents.

X6M finished higher at the Ultimate track car challenge than most of your better dynamic sedans.
I like the little higher ground clearance for actual daily driving, I like the fact they are lower than a typical SUV. The driving dynamics are great for street use.
GRM being who we are think about the 9/10ths 99% of the time. That isn't the point of a crossover. It is the modern day station wagon for a generation of people who don't like the station wagon looks.
And your price analogy isn't correct, depending on brand. Check out an Audi Allroad compared to the Q5.
