I was hoping they were gonna use the flammable method to stretch that on there just so I could see that one dude's hair in eminent danger.

That hair on guy #2 is like a built in sun visor.

I think #2 guy with the hair would be real leery of this bead seating method: http://vimeo.com/2510716

I don't get this whole stretching thing. The first thing my 3 year old said when this video came on is, "That tire doesn't fit!"

(She is an excellent padawan. Whenever we go into Sam's Club or Costco, she insists that we go and smell the tires.)

The hair reminds me of Egon from the cartoon version of Ghostbusters.

By the rule that anything/everything popular in Japan will be popular in the US 2 years later, and going by the fact that video was posted last March, expect to see a lot more of that hairdo here in approximately 1 year and 1 month.

if I ever seen anyone with that kind of tire stretch or that kind of hair, I will feel compelled to administer a beat-down of epic proportions.

& that is the most disturbing aspect of the video.

For whatever reason, that hairdo seems re-importation-proof. Maybe it won't make it through airport security?

I remember reading in the mid-90s about Japanese imitating '50s pompadours; and we're still safe.

I don't know if the hair is beatdown-worthy. But that stretch certainly is.

Those dudes are straight-up bosozoku. That's what boso hair looks like--kind of a rockabilly on meth type of deal.

That's some serious stretch. Makes the VW crowd look like amateurs.

I'm part of the "vw crowd". A tiny bit of stretch looks OK in my opinion, but I'm talking a 205/50 on a 8" rim, not a 9+ rim. That's just stupid. The hair is stupid too, but in a hilarious "I would point and laugh publicly at it" kind of way.

Does anyone want to explain to me how they even managed to get that tire on that rim? I don't understand what those two things that they shot at it were.

Those were tankfuls of compressed air, with that duckbill attachment for directing it to a wide but narrow area. Known colloquially as a bead blaster.

And from that video, they didn't get the tire on fully. The bead didn't seat on either side ...
