The Cobra has been in paint and body jail for a month now with no work done on it at all. The shop that did the quotes keeps pushing me off, they obviously don't want to do the work. I've already been paid for the damage to the car, and the greasy bits are all fixed. I have another shop willing to do the work for more money, but without the jambs (I was going to color-change it since it's getting a whole paint job).
SWMBO suggested that I just have the quarter fixed and then deal with the paint later, or maybe even wrap the thing. It is after all, just a racecar, and not a show car. I also still own my paint gun...
What to do?
If they don't want to do the work (nm why that might be), berk em.
One month with no work done? I'd be pissed and take the car somewhere else immediately.

Paint it yourself.
Before parts start to disappear off of it.
I like the DIY paint idea
what's a wrap cost on that, that could be cool also
Get it out of there first.
Then decide how much you want a color change and how much time you have. Fixing the damage is quick, easy and cheap but not ideal.
Having the other place paint is not quick nor cheap but easy and mostly ideal (because no jambs).
Doing it yourself is not quick nor easy but cheap and ideal.

Isnt this car mystichrome? That E36 M3 is supposed to be real hard to match when only doing one panel.
I have two real good body guys, one is fast and on time and very expensive, the other is slower just as good but quite a bit cheaper.
I wouldnt pull the car right now, I probably would call the owner or whomever and have a calm conversation with him about whether he wants the business or not and a realistic timeline for completion. If he legitimately doesnt want your business and regrets taking it he may just tell you hes too busy, then you pull it. Best case scenario is it motivates him to get it done.
There is a reason the call it bady shop hell.
My buddies foxbody was with the paint guy for over a year, he got a good deal and the paint is beautiful, the jambs and bottom of the hood and shock towers are as perfect as the paint on the rest of the car

I thought it was dark grey, and I remember something about trying to pick out a shade of blue for it.
It is at Shop B now, Shop A only has my spare decklid and wing. It is grey but it used to be red and the grey is in sad shape.
Ah, just Dip that sucker!

Damn, that was quick. LOL
Update: Decklid and spoiler also repo'd from Shop A and brought to Shop B. Shop B has already started on the car. Fixing the quarter and fender, mounting the new decklid, and painting the affected areas grey to match as best we can. The extra money will go to entry fees for the Packwood ProSolo and Solo II National Tours, some vinyl, and the rear suspension.
Best option. You can reprint later if desired. Just get it back on the track!
Good to hear this is getting back together. Looking forward to seeing this driven in anger again....
