After some discussion in another thread, I ended up buying EBC slotted/dimpled rotors & yellow pads for the focus.
I track the car at least once or twice a month at AMP.
Well, one of the rotors came warped outta the box. Not exactly inspiring confidence.
I'm calling to see about getting a replacement pair(?) tomorrow. I might go ahead and grab a set of "track only" pads while I'm at it.
Keeping in mind I'll only be on track 15 laps at a time, is there a silver bullet?
Any thoughts on rotors if/when I decide to ditch the EBC's? Weight savings would be nice. Is 2-piece the way to go?
I can't say enough good things about the Raybestos ST43 I've run on the Cayman. They're super smooth so you can really finesse the brakes without the pedal being a lightswitch, and they basically don't wear out.
Silly me, still running the stock brakes over here on my '16 and only had one instance of brake fade on a track day event.
I guess I'm lucky?
I know EBC has been hit or miss with their quality and I'm not sure the fancy rotors are needed for trackday work.
In reply to Stefan (Forum Supporter) :
Have you ever driven at AMP?

The only reason I didn't go with these is because I didn't want to have to deal with fully re-bedding brakes when swapping between street and race pads. Something to take into consideration, assuming you're going to have street pads and track pads and are swapping between them regularly you're going to want either compatible pads or a second set of rotors to swap over as well...or waste a lot of time and brake pads doing full on re-beds every time you swap. I already had porterfield R4S for street/autocross so I went the the race version (R4) for track use. They're probably not as good as ST43 but...they're really good.
Well, in happy news, EBC is sending me a new pair of rotors.
