Help me figure out which Honda wheels to use

I've mentioned my dad's 2009 Honda Fit Sport a couple of times here. We've decided to keep it in the family, but we need to get some snow tires for it, as it will be moving from St. Petersburg to upstate New Hampshire.

The factory alloy wheels are 4x100 16x6J with a 55mm offset. Stock wheels are hard to come by and 16 inch snows are a lot more money than 15's, so I'm thinking about going minus one. I've been looking for a good site that shows the sizes of factory Civic wheels, but I can't find a good source. Six inch wide wheels seem hard to find so I need to figure out what wheels to look for. Maybe I can find some factory Civic 15x6 wheels with a similar offset.

I need something like this, but for Hondas instead of Miatas.

Integra "blades" are 15x6 IIRC.

You could go with 5.5" without problems. Probably easier to find.

Some dude by me has a silver Fit with pink rims - actually looks cool.

When I was at the Tire Rack this summer I loved those red, lime green, and orange wheels. Not sure why.....

Put different Civics into the Tire Rack website and see what they show for a minimum wheel size. That will be the factory size. You'll get offset from there as well.

most factory wheels are close to the same dimensions. (all super high offset from the factory)

88-93 integra alloys are 14's 94-01 integra alloys are 15's.

there are gsr "blades" and LS "meshies" and "fat fives"

90-95 civic/del sol alloys are all 14's for the most part. all pretty ugly.

96-00 civic HX 14" wheels are suuuuppppeeerrrr light weight. 92-95 hx's are 13"

99-00 si and some 01-05 acessory wheels look damn good. 15" as well

or..... for almost the same cost, get some "xxr" or "drag" brand wheels. i paid $550 for my 17x8.25's for my 12 honda fit. most of these wheels will run you in the 200-400 range for 10+yr old crap (normally includes allseasons though)

Tire Rack actually shows that you can use 15" or 14" wheels on a Fit Sport. When you try to find a steel wheel on their site none is available. The aluminum ones are 40mm offset ,or so. That puts a lot of wheels in play as long as the center bore is 56 mm, or more.

I have a set of 00 Sis. Confirmed as 15x6. They look good.

Are you looking for steelies or alloys? I have some steel wheels from a 97 Civic EX. I think they are 15", but don't know the width, but can check when its light out.

I ran 1st gen Integra 14" alloys on my 2007 Fit Sport for winter tires the first few years that I had it. Then I switched to 15" Integra fat fives. Snow tires are still cheap and the handling is fine. In fact, noticeably better than the 14". Anything 4x100 will work, the offset difference is negligible.

I decided to use the wheels that I have for the snows and figure out the rest in the spring. I just ordered a set of 16" Nokians.

Check Craigslist for MINI wheels. They will fit a Fit :)

random but maybe useful info..

Miatas have a smaller hub bore than Hondas (or at least some hondas). One does not simply bolt Miata wheels onto a Honda. So keep that in mind when shopping for used OEM wheels.

This a small project that took a decidedly different turn because of the ridiculous TPMS requirement.

My father and I are setting this car up for my sister, who lives in Northern New Hampshire. She has already had snow this month. We were on kind of a tight schedule and choices had to be made quickly. The car came with TPMS and 16 inch wheels. Fifteens would have been a much better (and cheaper) choice for snow tires, especially in the area where this car will be living. I didn't want her to have to be staring at the yellow light on the dash for six months out of the year, and electrical tape was not an acceptable solution. If we didn't have to deal with TPMS, I could have just grabbed a nice set of used, plentiful 15 inch Civics wheels and wrapped them in cheaper snow tires with a nice tall sidewall. Mainly due to time constraints, we decided to just put 16 inch snows on the perfect, 9000 mile factory alloys that have previously lived in Florida. I'm sure that they will look like crap before January. In May, I'll have to get another set of wheels and re mount the take-off tires.

TPMS made this whole deal a lot more complicated and expensive.

Did TPMS make it a big deal only because you didn't want her to see the light for a few months out of the year, or that the car will actually fail some sort of annual inspection if the TPMS lights are on?

At least in my state you are not supposed to alter or disable the system. The lights on merely suggest that the system is working as designed (like detecting the installed wheels don't have sensors), and does not cause the car to fail the safety inspection.

I'm not sure, but I think it would fail the annual inspection up there with the light on. I honestly didn't have time to sort through all this. This all went down within a few hours. I usually have more time to figure things out.

I know, the lack of income tax and sales tax are total downers.

Also on the fit.... You can not turn off the traction control if the tpms light is on.... Not ideal for winter driving (in my experience. I've had issues pulling out and the traction control popping on and killing all power for a second or 2 while traffic was not slowing down Coming at me at 60mph. Scary)

I recently saw a Fit wearing Honda Civic Hybrid rims and it was an attractive combo. Here is a sample I goggled up.
I think the stock size tire on these Hybrid rims would be P195/65R15
