There was a thread here within the last few months about sewing your own interior parts. Somebody had recommended an old semi-industrial Singer sewing machine for sewing interior door cards etc.
I have been searching and just can't find that thread. Please excuse this "I'm an idiot" thread, but can anybody help me find that thread?
Thanks!
Are you looking for an industrial sewing machine also? I have one buried in the shed.
if he's not, I might be....
I needed one as a gift for my brother--he wants to make a tonneau cover for his Locost. I got a freshly serviced Slant-O-Matic on eBay for $100. Win.
Nice! Mine is not gift-ready anyway. It's a decent machine, but some assembly is required. It did not come with a motor when I bought it, but Chuck sourced one at some point. With the table, I wouldn't want to ship it. Ultraclyde, if you are still interested shoot me a PM and I will dig it out and take some pictures.

Cool! I hope it works out for him. You can get the manual on line if it isn't included. But it might be worth buying a paper copy on ebay for convenience. Another thing that might be useful if you don't have it is a foot for piping. All the fancy cams won't be much use unless you want to get into making clothes.

I want to get an industrial sewing machine at some point. I have a fairly heavy duty Necchi handed down from my grandmother but I haven't tried upholstery on it yet.

How can you possibly go wrong with something called a "Slant-O-Matic"?
That has to be an instant win! Or a plus 1. Or both...

Yeah and they look cool too.
The Slant-O-Matic showed up in by UPS. Looks freshly serviced and weighs a ton. It should do the trick.
The Benz (1990 420SEL for those not hanging on my every posted utterance!) is awesome. It just dominates the highway. You feel like a king whether you are moving at 10 or 100MPH. I threw on a set of fresh winter tires, and it will need pads and rotors and a t'stat. All of the parts are insanely cheap. I will say that the paint has a lot less shine than I was hoping for. It's silver and could probably stand a respray. But how much money do you spend on a car with such low resale value? I am driving it up to NY on Xmas eve--perfect car for traveling distance on a cold, rainy night.
I know there are cloth canoes that need sold...
