My 1970 duster has 17x8 wheels on it.
Current sizes are 255/40/17 and 255/50/17
I want to keep this wheel package, and ideally this size, but at minimum this height stagger. It just looks RIGHT.
And has since 2009 when i put this set of wheels and tires on.
Its currently on 2009 spec federal 595 super steel tires. It's time to age them out.
The only two brands i can find making this stagger is nitto and riken. Neither of which fill me with warm and fuzzy feelings.
I figured out last night that i can go to Firestone indy 500s in 235/45/17 and 235/55/17 and keep my stagger, with 3/4 less tread width. Im having a hard time picturing what that would look like in my head as far as stretched on the wheel goes. The super steels have a slight bulge to the sidewall wich looks right on a musclecar to my eye.
I guess what im asking is twofold.
1. Are there brands im missing in my current sizing that makes matching front and rear tires?
2. Are there alternate sizes that fit my needs in availability and looks if the 235s don't?
3, a bonus question: how would my 235 sizes look in the firestones on an 8 inch wide wheel?
