Help save my marriage with a jackson racing supercharger!

So we have this sweet 99 miata.  I mean the thing is beautiful.  The problem is my son steals the thing from me.  He is 17 and "his"car was voted best of the seniors cars.  I'm driving it this past summer and think, "I should get one of these".  I find one, 2001 100 k miles and has the above racing supercharger.  The car has none of the new england rust and rot, really only user wear and tear.  I love the thing.  Somehow my wife mishears the price of the car, to the tune of 3K less, she isn't thrilled but goes with it.  She gets into this money crunch because we need a new roof and windows.  I had given her a sincere song and dance about not getting anymore cars and how great this car is going to be.  I really think that the slipping clutch isn't that bad, honest I didn't...

I only auto crossed it once.   I may have really beat on it, but the car loved every lash of the beating.  Unfortunately the clutch really starts to slip.  I posted on here how she wants me to not do the clutch myself, I just go with it as she is mad about the whole thing.  So right before the car goes in for the clutch the supercharger starts making an awful noise.  The internet tells me that the noise is probably coming from the front of it and it just needs a new coupler.  Long story short, the internet was wrong.

So now I need to find a company to rebuild the supercharger.  One place tells me that I have a 3rd gen supercharger and parts are no longer available.  They tell me that places that rebuild them don't do the job well. They do not tell me which company (ies) that the DO NOT recommend.

So now I need this thing rebuilt and done well.  My wife has asked me (for the last few years) to stop bringing home basket case cars. She always asks me to spend more so I don't end up with a broken car that I don't have time to fix.  Not a bad thing to be asked.  So does anyone know of  a place you would recommend or not?  I'm flying blind here.  My mustang has a kenne bell on it, so I would just call them if it had problems.  I'm learning miata, but didn't want such a crash course.

So you may not only save a broken miata, you may save a wife's faith in her husband picking up stray cars.

Jackson racing is still in business, why not call them?

Seems like it should be built for boost so why not put on a turbo instead of supercharger?

Contact Jon bond superchargers. Or wherever Keith recommends when he chimes in.

This isnt the funnest car answer, but id say its a fantastic answer if you are interested in keeping the wife happy and keep having a wife to keep happy. I wouldnt have seen this so much before, but having recently stared divorce in the face and having learned a whole lot about relationships, sell the car, tell your wife she was right and enjoy the benefits of a happy wife.  Later, happy wife will prob be glad to go pick out a fun car with you that you can both be invested in.

We already have the roof!  I appreciate the sentiment, but I was being funny about my marriage.  She is def annoyed and wishes we had not bought the car.  We have had other times where she has asked me to get rid of cars. I did and she was happy about it.  The faster I get this resolved, the happier she will be.  She really gets upset at cars that are broken and just sit.  That is more of the problem.  I would do whatever it would take to save my marriage if it were in trouble.  I did want recommendations on a supercharger rebuild.  Thanks for all of your input. I will contact jackson racing.

I really like the off the line reeling of the supercharger.  Are the turbos that much less expensive?  I don't know if the engine is built.

Ask yourself, How many things has she gotten that she wanted compared to  what you have?  Count each car and repair plus tools and equipment. 
If there is a significant monetary difference, look at the alternative.  
Take every asset  you own at net value, discount it by at least 20%. Cars, house, tools, etc  then from the balance of that subtract about $20,000 in lawyers fees. 
That is what you now get to divide in half. 
Yep,  half.  
Now, From your future earnings subtract about $500 a month for child support  for each child and if she makes significantly less than you that means you'll need to come up with spousal support  to make up the difference.  
If You've been married  10 years or in some states only 7 years she will also share in your retirement.  
 

Slightly  less than 1/2 of all marriages end in divorce.    Many of my friends who wound up in divorce court really didn't do anything wrong ( they thought) 

Following the divorce just getting by on what was left of there income was tough.  

I have a older lifted long bed extra cab Dodge ram I like to 'piddle around with' and decided I need to sell it and get a smaller truck that would actually fit in the garage; it started giving me some problems, so all last year I was bugging my wife I want to sell it and she was like 'no you cant sell it'

Figuring I cant sell it then, I install a fresh V8 and a Monster transmission in it. Then the other day my wife says "why don't you just sell it instead of putting all this work into it?"

So there is no right answer whenever the question has the word 'wife' in it.

At the ~250whp mark, Miata engines don't really need to be built, other than maybe opening up piston ring gap. I'm making 245whp on an essentially stock 1999-2000 engine with a Rotrex supercharger and I am not kind to this engine at all. I also put ARP head studs and main studs in while I was rebuilding the engine (pulled from a junkyard, full of water) just because I was in there, but Track Dog Racing said that isn't even really necessary.

Glad things are good. Sounds like the car is not far from bring a great ride.  I 100% have a NB with supercharger in my wants list.

Thanks for the info.  I am typically a "mustang guy", and I am learning to speak miata.  Really great cars.  Reminds me of my youth and my bug eyed sprite.  When I look at how small a miata is, I cannot believe I drove on the highway in a smaller car.  

We are on the lookout for another engine for our other miata.  The oil consumption is getting ridiculous.  Not as much smoke as you'd think, but the oil is going somewhere.

It's not the same business that sold this SC. That thing was sold under a bunch of names - Downing/Atlanta, Sebring, Jackson Racing, Moss. JR went away and came back with the same name, but it's not really the same company even though it's Oscar at the helm.

I'd go to Eaton. They're the ones that actually built the supercharger itself. If they can't help you, drop Track Dog Racing a line. He's a Miata supercharger guy.

If it's a JRSC, then it's an M45. Not a powerhouse. You can't find a turbo that will make that little power :)

I am feeling bad about joking about my marriage. I do know that cars have really caused problems in marriages.  My wife is on a debt crusade, I said I was willing to cut out anything but my car hobby.  I am pretty much ruling out rally cross for this winter.  She went through the bills and we wasted an astonishing amount of money on eating out.  She was more, way more upset about that than anything.  She did not bring up cutting out cars.  Really, I only have two mustangs and a busted miata right now.  The other cars "belong" to my two kids and her.  Granted, my wife drives a fiesta st mostly to keep me happy.  That car will be paid for in three months.  We  have had a succession of cars come and go.  We totally lost money on selling my truck. That is a vehicle I wished I had not brought into the fold. We never used it and when we did something was wrong from not using it.  We just didn't need it.  

My wife has been really good about my cars, knowing that they are my stress reliever.  We don't usually get in the way of what the other buys.  As in any marriage, communication is key.  She did miss hear what the cost of our latest miata was.  I have to say that I am clueless about money.  She handles it all.  I'll stop here with thanks for being concerned for my marriage.

Correction, you'd want to talk to Magnusson. They're the Eaton distributor for the US. They'll grumble (they don't like anything that's more than a couple of years old) but they should be able to do it.

I'm as least as clueless about how my cars affect SWMBO as you are.  When my late wife was passing I asked her  what she would have changed about her life. She commented negatively about my working on cars as a supplement to my  regular income. 
One of her few regrets. 
I know I made money working on cars. Plus had some wonderful experiences that she shared in. 
Yet as she was passing it was her biggest regret.
