Help! Looking at the FSM and Haynes manual I thought the main pulley assembly on my RX-7's 13B would come right off once I removed the 4 bolts. No dice... I need to take off at least the two forward most pulleys so that I can get the water pump and housing off. The pulley is in three sections right? The center bolt does not mount the pulleys to the eccentric shaft in any way, correct? Should I just try and spray PB Blaster in between the pulleys and use a mallet and drift to try and "un-stick" the pulleys. Do i need to get a puller? Am I missing something here? Is there some other trick?

Thanks,

Ray

3jaw puller and a quick wrench

Once all 4 of the 6mm bolts are removed they should come off pretty easily. Use a couple of big screwdrivers as pry bars to 'walk' them off. Try not to remove the big center bolt which holds the pulley mount to the eccentric shaft.

If for any reason you have to remove that bolt, be advised there is a needle thrust bearing behind it. If that slips out of place during reassembly it will tear itself to pieces shortly after startup with expensive results.

Forget the shotgun. At this point I am thinking howitzer.

Seriously...

Thanks Jensenman. I will try the big driver pry method.
