Hello, my name is Indy, and I'm an idiot.

Now that we have that out of the way, help my wire a super basic engine ignition system. My TR4 came with a Chevy 2.8 V6 partially installed. Information on the engine is questionable, but I think it's from an '83 or '84 S-10. I got the car and engine in this condition. I want to test fire the engine before pulling it out, so this is a cobbled together temporary thing.

Coil has four wires coming out (plus high voltage wire). How do I wire this thing?

Labels are from previous owner.

Next question, what do I hook up to the distributor? Two wires coming out of there. Black(or maybe brown) and orange.

Carb on the top of that thing, right?  I can check for a wiring diagram tomorrow.  There might be an extra module someplace, but it wouldn't be critical IIRC.

Where's the distributor cap? The wire from the coil that looks like a spark plug wire goes to the center of the cap. The 2 marked should be as marked. Don't know what the other 2 are for. Switched power?

In reply to Streetwiseguy :

Yes. Carbed.

A wiring diagram would be great. Then my questions will be slightly less Idiotic.

OK, got the one going to the center of the distributor correct. Do any of these get constant 12 Volts from the battery.

I heard maybe some cars need resistors to step down voltage?

I'm pretty good with mechanical stuff, it's the sparky electrical (that I always let the smoke out of everything) that I'm clueless about.

Thanks. Has some of the correct wire colors. Probably the right one. (?)
