I have a 1993 Thunderbird SC without an engine or trans and a 1993 Thunderbird LX V8 with body damage.

(I think we can all see where I'm heading here.)

The mechanical end is easy, as it's all unbolt from here and bolt in there. Been there, done that. I shouldn't even have to worry about finding any special parts unless I break something.

The question of the day concerns wiring.

Fords of this era have an engine-specific under/in-dash wiring harness.

I've compared the two wiring diagrams and there are obvious contradictions around the computer, which is in the dash harness. Would you recommend repinning computer wires on the SC harness or swap in the V8 harness and deal with any other potential differences then? (I'm probably over-thinking this one and realize the decision might be easier once the dashes are out and side-by-side.)

(Mostly, I just wanted to try out the new title.)

if theyre both the same year/shape i would think a complete harness swap shouldnt be too difficult and require little customization, though tedious still.

I swapped in a SC dash into my 91 LX V8. It was a matter of pulling the pins out of the cluster connectors and installing them in the proper location.

I'd say all you need to do is pull the SC harness out with the 3.8 and install the 5.0 harness from the 60-pin EEC out. The dash harness should be close enough that at most a little switcharoo will fix it. I used a Helm diagram and EVTM to make sure I had things right. Pretty easy sure, but time consuming.
