Maybe stupid question, but is there anything inside the metering block other than the jets and power valve, and those two little idle mixture screws on the outside?
Any springs or check valves or tiny balls or any of that stuff inside the runners and chambers?
I've had one soaking for a bit and am ready to blow it out and don't wanna be surprised by anything too small to see popping out of it and getting lost.
Thanks !

Yup. You have it covered. Just be sure to use the right gaskets between the metering block and carb body. Hopefully you have saved the old ones to compare... ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/wink-18.png)
If you didn't buy the Mylar gasket and got the standard paper units make sure to coat with the cheapest Chap-Stick the drug store has. This aids in jet changes down the road
the blown up pic inside the official Holley rebuild kit that you bought (the generic parts store kits for Holley carbs are junk and no one should ever buy them) should have had a very detailed pic of every piece that is inside the carb..
there are no weird springs or checkvalves to worry about in the metering blocks.
Thanks ! I bought the most complete rebuild kit that I could find, the gaskets for the metering block are sort of shiny blue, the rest looks pretty good (I think) this is my first attempt at a rebuild, but it seems sort of simple and well explained.
Just wasn't sure about the metering block. It seems kinda thick to have nothing moving around inside, so I wanted to make sure, you know?
Again, thanks for the help. If I'm successful, I'll let you all know. If not, I'll just pretend that it all never happened . . .

Opppsss . . . one more question.
I noticed that there was a short pointed metal thing in the rebuild kit. About 3/8" long, 1/8" or maybe less diameter and comes to a point.
I have an exact same little piece in the parts that I removed from the carb, but now I have no memory of what it is or where it goes.
Any help with this? I'm completely lost ! ! !
Thanks,
TC
That's probably a check valve for the accelerator pump disharge. It goes under the discharge nozzle screw with the sharp end down.
The blue gaskets are the good, re-useable ones.
Keep a fire extinguisher handy, it's a Holley.
True dat. A Holley is a barely controlled fuel leak.
"That's probably a check valve for the accelerator pump disharge. It goes under the discharge nozzle screw with the sharp end down."
Yup ! Right you are ! !
Is there a spring or anything that goes in after the check valve and before the screw gets tightened down? I put the little pin in the hold and fitted the collar or whatever with the discharge holes in it, just placed the screw in the hole loosely in case there's a spring or something else that goes in as well before the screw.
PLEASE, lemme know if I'm missing something would you? I got a lot of little springs left over from the kit, but not sure . . .
Thank you ! !
