Just saw on the Mecum auction coverage on TV that a Honda S2000 Club racer got bid up to $100,000, but didn't sell at that price.  Cool car, but wow.

We had a used one (no factory A/C) in our showroom back in 2015. I thought we were insane for trying to retail it, and I figured I'd let it sit for a few weeks and see if I could get an employee discount. Thought "it's the middle of TX Summer, no one is going to be psychotic enough to buy a car w/o air conditioning!"  It sold in 2 days for, I think $30,000??? Whoops

Yeah, the S2000 CR is now a hot property. BaT got $131k for one.

And to think, I went on the press intro. Had I know, maybe I should have bought one.

I'm pretty sure this is the same car: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2008-honda-s2000-cr-49/

I, too, remember the days when a non-AC S2000 CR couldn't be given away. We were going through the financial crisis, nobody was buying sports cars and they just sat. I remember seeing non-AC cars in Florida for sale in late 2009, maybe even 2010, even at discounted prices. While I don't think the CR is different enough than the base S2000 to warrant the price delta, people always go bananas for the high performance version, and here we are.

A lot of now-desirable cars once sat on dealer lots: Cobra, M coupe, etc.
