What motor spec did they order from Porsche ?
if Porsche is building motors for 24 hour races you would not expect them to blow up on practice laps unless they put the boost on kill !
which with Ken Brocks group is possible .......
Hope they run it next year but that's a long wait......
I don't think Porsche has a part number for a 1400 hp flat six.

I believe the engine was built by BBi. Who I remember Larry Chen expressing some discontent with when they were working on his 996, resulting in him changing where he took his car to.

Does Ken Block have any experience driving "real" race cars? Just curious, as his threshold handling abilities would seemingly come in very handy when trying for actual real lap times.

Uhhh... he's been running in Rally America since 05 when he was Rookie of the Year. He started WRC off and on in 07, and has won races in the FIA, Canadian Rally, and X-Games rally formats. He did a number of seasons full time in the WRC with a few podiums. He's also done PPIH a number of times professionally.
He never podiumed in WRC, best finish was 8th overall. He did finish in the points a few times though. He's a very good rally driver by North American standards but not up to the pointy end globally.
He's also an excellent showman with good editors who would bring a whole new audience to the event.

Thanks. I actually meant, has he ever driven in traditional place-based lap-timed asphalt race, like Le Mans, or even NASCAR. Just curious.
I would expect tarmac rally to port over to PPIHC pretty well. Not sure how much of that he's done, as I don't think there are any tarmac rallies in North America. There certainly are on the WRC calendar so he's done some.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
There are a few tarmac rallies, but they are all pretty small events, at least in the US. Not sure about Canada.

Most importantly - it's mid-engine. (So really it's a Cayman)
More like a 911 gt1
More like a nascar. It's not a unibody. It shares a roof with a real 911. And that's probably it. Even the suspension and pick up points are all different. It's another fake car with crap draped over the tube frame to make it look like some poster car.
The 911 gt1 was basically a 911 front bulkhead with a 962 chassis behind it so it be in a away similar to those stock front clip oval late model and modified race cars .
