Looks like a new contender in the competition street tire market.
PRODUCT BULLETIN: HOOSIER ST6 PERFORMANCE STREET TIRE
LAKEVILLE, IN - Hoosier is proud to announce its entry into the popular "street tire" motorsports category with the new ST6. It is designed to compete in series requiring a minimum rating of 200 Uniform Tire Quality Grading (UTQG), and brings Hoosier's nearly 60 years of racing experience to the fast-growing world of street legal* pro touring, autocross, and endurance racing events.
The exclusive multi-layer construction of the ST6 offers a secondary compound at lower tread depth based on our expertise in the A6 race tire line. This gives competitors the choice of shaving to 3/32-in tread depth to maximize dry competition or leaving at 7/32-in† molded depth for intermediate conditions.
Tire Rack will be the exclusive distributor of the Hoosier ST6, and will have eight sizes available by April 30. Online orders must confirm the vehicle make and model with a Tire Rack sales representative via telephone to ensure fitment.
Preview a video of the ST6's specifications and performance against similar competing brands at a recent invitation-only testing session: [Click here]
* Warning: the Hoosier Racing Tires ST6 is not intended for highway use.
† Average molded tread depth 6.9/32-in.

That means it will be a very light weight tire. This is an area where Hoosier maintains an advantage over competitors.
I bet they cost as much or more than a set of A6s.
Ok, I'll be a buzzkill/grumpy old bastard - my first thought is "Oh, here go the tire-wars again!"
So much for having classes with "cheap" tires. Yeah, yeah...competitive drivers, multiple sets of wheels/tires, "just for fun" - I get all that. But wasn't this the exact problem the new "Street" class was trying to resolve. I know no mention of the Hoosier pricing has been stated yet, but would they be able to price them comparable to the Rivals, etc.?
Ok, I'm done being an shiny happy person(for now).

You haven't been paying attention.
From the inception of ST classes over a decade ago, one tire or another has always managed to become THE choice. While there is no guarantee the ST6 will be an automatic winner there will be plenty of competitors willing to try it out - just like its' happened with Toyo, Yoko, BFG, Dunlop et al.
The only surprise with a new Hoosier entry is that its' taking so long.
The only results in a web search on this pop up a bunch of posts from some guy called "modernbeat" posting the same thing to a bunch of forums. Nothing on Hoosier's site, nothing on Tire Rack.
And then I checked the calendar.

And I guess the tread pattern is a Dunlop Z2 with the center treads photoshopped out?
Lmao! Fair enough - got me!
That's what I get for never looking at a calendar... :D
This is no joke but Hoosier did make street tires at one time. I had a set on my van when I bought it. Size 215/80X16 E load range. So there!

These will be very fast since they are much lighter than I original thought!
In all seriousness, someone needs to come out with a white letter tire in a modern performance compound.
